Destiny 2 Will Be On Next Gen

Destiny 2 will be on next-gen platforms! More details to come.

BigBosss2246d ago

Hope they give rid off that loading crap whenever we get from one area to another and stuff other stuff.

phoenixwing2246d ago

They'll be shorter but it still has to load the online world

How about the annoying loading times for your inventory. It’s frustrating AF

rdgneoz32245d ago

If you want reduced load times, they had a video from last summer using Spider-Man as an example of loading in PS5 vs PS4 pro. PS5 was about 1/10 of the PS4 pro load times.

Dirtnapstor2245d ago (Edited 2245d ago )

I’m on the fence when it comes to load times. Yes, it can be annoying long depending on the game, but I don't mind the break from the action so-to-speak.
If I could check and manipulate character/weapons in menus and whatnot while waiting, that would work for me.

XBManiac2245d ago (Edited 2245d ago )

It is an online game with lobbies hidden behind spaceships over planets... only better servers and matchmaking code can fix this. If you play on Stadia (well... if you don't mind lag and compression stuff) you will notice that the "loading crap" you mention is only a server side problem. Maybe with next gen servers, with next gen storage solutions, it will be intantaneous to go through missions, Strikes, Cruzible and everything. I hope this jump in hardware will fix and improve more things than local console loading times.

I wish they could give up on destiny and make a new series and this time maybe make another story focused game with or without mp mode as well. I dont think I would want another shooter from them, but some other genre of game.

NeoGamer2322245d ago

I completely agree.

Bungie has more talent then to just develop MP games with no real story.

WickedLester2245d ago (Edited 2245d ago )

God, why?? Destiny 2 is old. Where is Destiny 3 or, God forbid, a new IP?

SaveFerris2245d ago

This is what happened in the first couple of years from the transition from last-gen to this gen. We still likely have GTA5, Skyrim, and Fortnite to come.

DOMination-2245d ago

Ha.. spreading over two gens is understandable but I wonder if any games have ever stretched over three generations like that before..

I can totally see GTA5 and Skyrim on next gen consoles before we see sequels. And the sad thing is they will probably still top the charts.

chronoforce2245d ago

Bungie have said they plan to release a new IP by 2025

Kabaneri2245d ago

Just work on a new IP, Destiny is a generic Halo with one of the most toxic communities in video games.

TheProfessional2245d ago (Edited 2245d ago )

As a follow up the the Halo franchise the destiny series is a joke with an atrocious story, minimal vehicle combat (a huge strength of halo), no aerial vehicles, no memorable music and worst of all tons of repetitive grinding and bland missions. That's not even considering the extortion they practice with the never ending and overpriced dlc. They need to do a new IP. So tired of greed with microtransacrions and dlc destroying games like this and GTA V, why work on anything new when you can make so much money on multiplayer updates?

waverider2245d ago

activision also got a word to say about that. Its not only Bungie.

livedeht2245d ago

Bungie is independent now

Honestly Thank Goodness!! Yet another good sign of a possibility of returning to what made them great and undoing Jim Tyans trend chasing love service gamble. Still gotta wait and see just what direction they're going but this is a good sign in my book that they're not betting it all on live service anymore

S2Killinit145d ago (Edited 145d ago )

Not sure what you lot are talking about anymore. They need to cover all range of games. Im primarily a single player gamer, but even I cannot be daft enough to ignore the fact that we need all manner of games including live service games. Everyone here seems to be a market expert.

isarai_lee145d ago (Edited 145d ago )

Yes "all manner" not just exclusively live service like Jim was doing, but you also shouldn't be forcing devs to make games they not only have no experience making, but also flatout dont want to do.

S2Killinit145d ago

Assuming that anything like that is actually the case and not just a perception of n4g commenters of course.

Redemption-64144d ago

I don't understand why you people have to keep making up lies. You can say you don't like some or most of their focus being on live service games, but to say they were exclusively focusing on live service games is pure copium. At most half of their games were live service and the rest were single player games. Seriously why lie about something so obvious?

isarai_lee144d ago

@Redemption-64

You say that as if we don't have word directly from Jim Ryan and PlayStation stating they wanted at least 12 live service games released within a year. Followed by tons of official word of those Live Service games being cancelled after he was pushed out. All studios combined at the time PS had 15 studios, 12 is a hell of a lot more than half of 15, and it was definitely their primary focus evident by the fact that a huge portion of their studios have taken uncharacteristically long to release or announce anything since, hell some studios have yet to release anything this gen almost 6 YEARS LATER! The only one making stuff up is you.

It may take a while but maybe they are finally learning. Good! Now stop with the live service crap.

ABizzel1145d ago

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a live service here or there, but to have many of your studios start focusing on it when there has been little to no experience among them was wild.

Christopher145d ago (Edited 145d ago )

They say this and then immediately release news of the Horizons co-op game that will definitely be a Live Service game.

isarai_lee145d ago

I feel like they knew that given the fact that the very furst thing they say in the trailer is to reassure they still make so games 😆

vTuro24145d ago

Bet they're regrettings spending those billions pretty hard right now.

S2Killinit145d ago

Destiny has been a huge success.

Redemption-64144d ago

They will not. Destiny has been popular for over 10 years, something most games can never hope to achieve. Most people, including myself those Bungie was going to make a D3 after the final shape DLC. Marathon looks to be a hit and a D3 announcement could break records.
