Does Wastelanders Improve Fallout 76?

The Wastelanders update changes the experience in meaningful ways, but doesn't fix legacy issues that still bring the game down.

It is definitely a lot more interesting to play with human NPCs back. I've been having fun with the game after giving it up for 10 or so months.

It is still a buggy game with horrible pop in and bad animations, but at least it's fun now.

I still can't believe they are using this game engine for the next Elder Scrolls. What a bad idea.

Spenok2215d ago

Their refusal to get rid of their completely shit engine baffles me, even for next gen. Ugh.

Harryvok2215d ago

Completely bizarre. The animation systems etc have barely improved since Morrowwind. Terrible engine by today's standards.

It can't be worse than going terminal to terminal and reading constantly while Bethesda runs off with your cash and leaves the b team to support the game while you continue to stare at vaguely familiar fallout 4 assets with enhanced system crippling god rays.

If you get that far that is.

After over 20 hours, I'm still having fun. I reached level 16, I think. I've always enjoyed the Fallout universe and this game has a nice world. There are several cryptids, if you're into paranormal stuff. The map is nice, with actual colored graphics of landmarks, much better than previous games. There are scores of different mobs, not just the same handful across the entire wasteland. The perk system is different, but I kinda like it. I haven't built a base yet, I'll start when I find a good location. I haven't had any crashes or game breaking bugs. I dunno why so many people hate this game without playing it. They are probably just angry that it's not the game they wanted, but it's a lot of fun.

I bought it out of morbid curiosity about two months back. Ended up playing it almost nightly for weeks. Shelved it after hitting level 20, waiting for the Wastelanders update.
Been playing it every couple nights since. The game has a bunch of flaws, but I don't consider it a bad game. There's a lot to like, if you enjoy these sorts of survival titles. Wastelanders just adds a rather decent campaign to the experience, and more life to the world.

Bethesda dropped the ball with this one, but they've put a lot of work into the game since then. If people could forgive No Man's Sky, there's no reason not to here. There's still work to be done, but the game seems a 180 to what I heard of the initial release.

Yes but that's not very difficult to do considering what an abomination the base game was along with its "content" updates.

Review: Fallout 76: Wastelanders | Link-Cable

Zahi AR. from Link-Cable writes: "Bethesda has had two years to improve these issues with the end result being Fallout 76: Wastelanders, a free update for the core game. Has this improved the game to a playable state? Or is Fallout 76: Wastelanders still the broken and buggy mess we saw on launch?"
