Very slick and very responsive. There is a lot of backtracking in the menus however. Other than that, the avatars still suck (even after creating one), but it is a fast process. Good job MS! Still a little too Nintendo-ish and not as sophisticated as the XMB, but an awesome improvement over the blades. There are ads everywhere though.

I quite like it although the avatars are just as crap as i imagined haven't tried installing a game yet may try that in a little while.

Its pretty tight installing a game now. Takes about 7 mins.

I'm kinda p*ssed that all of the themes I have are pretty much useless. I mean, I can see one of the pictures out of four that come with every theme, but what happened to the other pictures?

Also, for as sleek as it all looks, why does what the guide button bring up look so dull and boring?

Installing game is so worth it. Noticeably less noice and load a lot quicker.

I just downloaded the NXE. I'm telling you... it's sick as f*ck.

I expected this new update to be lame as hell. Avatars, right? Wack huh. But I tried them out, made my own little badass, and what do ya know, it's not so bad after all. The intro video after downloading blew me away. I felt like it was the N64 days all over again. Well, more so I felt like I was on mushrooms.

Originality is what best describes this update. It's smooth, efficiant, and totally appealing. I hope Sony's Home does good, I really do. I'm not going to be all Xbox-this, Xbox-that anymore. If Home does as good as the NXE, all hardcore gamers will have something be happy about.

The naysayers will say the nay but I'll still know what's real. The NXE prevailed, and I hope PS3 fans are left with something kickass in Home as well.

Has anyone had any problems installing NXE? I keep on getting panic attacks that its going to Wipe my gamerscore (41000+)

Just my opinion..

Liking the update. Took no time at all. Menus are crisp and bright with lots of artwork everywhere. It looks a lot more pro overall. The pop up blade section is a bit dull and could have been made a bit sharper - otherwise so far so good. Nice one MS. I agree with comments above about the lots of back tracking in menus which can get many levels deep. Is there a one button return to root menu?

Can't be bothered to install a game yet as I have 2 machines and the disc loading or noise has never been and issue with a decent 5.1 setup.

I have to say that the 'avatar program' which is obviously a little seperate application is soooooooooo cheesy with its kiddy music and really is tring to be the Wii I have downstairs. (I bet the missus will like it though). Not really suiting my seasoned gamer attitude, Having said that I look forward to seeing some comedy avatars in the near future like on the Wii. I want mine to look like captain kirk in his mutton chop burner phase.

So my first impressions are a thumbs up (apart from the cheesy thing).

Well as Sony fanboy i must say that M$ sure knows how to put up a fight. First this update was ridiculously FAST! This could only mean they must be using a new type of flash base code. Anyway the NXE really ads life to the xbox360 like botox to a celebrity. Really shiny and tight looking. But i really like the way it operates. Kudos to M$ and the no longer Xbots but the now to be known Xii fanboys. Enjoy for now. I am a Home beta tester and trust me thats the Real 3D!

I got the NXE when it was leaked and it updated without any problems. It still doesnt look as sleek as the pictures they showed though.

I messed around with the nxe for a while but im still undecided. It looks much better though, that much i will say.

Installed LOTR BFME2 and it works like a dream.

Started a party with 1 friend and started a game on LOTR and we were chatting away then he says a friend wants to join the party........

I was wondering how it was gonna work!

The 3 of us were all chatting even though he was playing on COD5 campaign - the 360 even gives you the option of Game Chat or Party Chat if need be!

I thought that you would have to be in the dashboard or in the same game to have 8 player party chat but not so - Microsoft have really moved the goalposts with this update.

This is a HUGE improvement. The Avatars are still too nintendo for me, but overall it's still really cool because everyone is going to be different with what they choose

Game install is quick. I am uploading my entire library of games!

wow the 360 is QUIET when playing from the hard drive, all you hear is that damn fan, what an awesome improvement!

best update ever, everything is fast and smooth, installing works great and lowers noise greatly.

avatars are kool and yet non intrusive, other then when you first start and have to choose one, either pick one or create one and once thats done

you can hid your avatar in a way, since its really never in YOUR face, even in my xbox its the second box to the right, so its not in your face, but the blessing in all this is you can use your own gamerpic for everything or a snapped pic you took with your cam.

Wow, NXE is so clean. Very big improvement. Installed Too Human and Gears 2. No more lag! Community games is a great addition. Can't wait to play some games made by frontline gamers. I love the way u get all the info on games (XBLA) before u buy. Now I gotta figure out how to use my avatar in Bomberman Live :-)

We from Sony fanboy group do welcome the xbox360 Xiis. LOL. What tha. Xbots need to tell M$ to cut the crap and put out more first party hardcore titles. There is a feature that allows you to actually access the Blade function i suggest you use it.

It took maybe 3 minutes to download and update my box this morning b4 heading off to work. I personally like the avatars, and you dont need to use them so its no big deal. But I like seeing my avatar when I play Wii stuff, so I get an even better looking one for my 360 now.

The guide button menu is real slick, letting you do pretty much everything in a stripped-down blade interface if need be. Text looks much sharper as well. Will try out the netflix and all that when I get a chance later. Definitely love the big box art for the games, especially the arcade titles...as silly as it sounds it makes them feel a bit more substantial since they never came with a box in the first place.

One thing I got after using it for 10 minutes is it feels much smaller, which is what they were going for. Everything feels more centered rather than scattered around. Great update.

Eh, I like most of what they've done but I would've liked to be able to upload a damn avatar instead of having one of those instead.

i'm sure this works just fine, but i don't think there is any comparisons between this and HOME to be made. HOME is totally different.

Fast update, Netflix, HDD optional install, Crisp fast menu's...and the Chat system...OMG...THANK YOU. Had a 5 way chat going with friends... 2 playing Gears, others on Dash...worked flawlessly! Launched a game and invited the whole party to join me.

NXE is a nice win for MS.

I Called xbox live and i talked to some lady from xbox INDIA and she said to make sure everything is plugged in all the way im like no S lady .do i sound like im ordering a freaking pizza .. then she freaking said do you have it hooked up to a T.V. /??? then i hung up because it was just becoming idiot talking to these freaks anyways its working on my old xbox fine but now my elite seems like its ruined not being picked up by the lcd and ive tried it on 3 tvs now ... and it worked fine before the update .....

I do like that everything works instantly now, no pause lag between screens.

Mine keeps locking up when I exit viewing someones avatar. Also I cannot access any marketplace stuff.

Love the update and it has without a doubt put it head and shoulders above the boring ass XMB and Wii dashboard.

Avatars = pretty blatant ripoff of Mii's and just as useless. i don't think they're "lame," or "gay," just pointless. with that said, i DID create an avatar of myself. lol.

everything else = great improvement over the original dashboard. i think it's much easier to navigate now.

I like the update and it was very quick so color me surprised. I have no issue with the avatars or who ripped of whom cause that's debatable as well. The new dashboard is much better and looks cooler as well.

Finally, ever since November, 2001 have I wished for an open/close tray button.

He loves the Avatars, and his mother was really excited to hear about the coming primetime games -- they play games like Scene It and Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader together, she thougth Primetime sounded interesting.
