Resident Evil 3 is the rare sequel that does less | Polygon

Capcom’s latest remake is once again excellent, but safe and short.

TeamIcoFan2252d ago

Oh hey, it's polygon, the joke of a shitty review site that tries so hard to get attention.

Lore2252d ago

Is he wrong? He said it’s an excellent game, albeit short. You going to disagree that 6 hours for a full $60 AAA game isn’t short?

CrimsonWing692252d ago (Edited 2252d ago )

RE2 Remake was that long if not less. Why does that get a better score?

luckytrouble2252d ago

You can probably give RE2 a pass because it has two campaigns that change depending on if they're the A or B scenario, alongside fun extras. You could easily get 20 - 30 hours out of REmake 2, if not more. RE3 has a more straightforward structure in the sense that it's one character's story told one way, and then the big extra for RE3, Resistance, flopped in testing. It gives no reason to come back unless you really want to see the game top to bottom again.

Another way to think of it is that REmake 3 basically feels like a new scenario for REmake 2, using some of the words from the review.

Yeah it always put me off big fan of the series not a big fan of the bullet sponge nemesis and the fact my mate also a big resi fan came round one afternoon and by the time he was leaving had just finished my copy of resi3 😅😑😂 gonna check out the remake but not day1 for me like Resi2 was.

Curious to know what about the article you disagree with? Or are you simply bashing the author because of the website?

MadLad2252d ago

I'm seeing a lot of 7's for this game. 6's even. I guess everyone is wrong in having a shared opinion for this one.

Rachel_Alucard2252d ago

Remember, everything the website writes is wrong because they shoehorn politics in other articles! /s

I don't know what anyone would be expecting from a remake of an original that is about the same length? You know what you're getting into. Also, its about replayability. RE2make was short too, and ive dumped hundreds of hours into speed running it and will do the same here.

--Onilink--2252d ago

this one actually got rid of the branching paths so its shorter and less replayable than the original

KyRo2252d ago

Speed running appeals to very, very few people. They cannot rely on that to extend a games playtime. The multiple choices and paths of the original would have extended playtime.

Hungryalpaca2251d ago

I expect a remake to ATLEAST have the same areas as the original and path branching.

RE2R went out of its way to ADD content. 3 REMOVED content.

Rachel_Alucard2252d ago

I don't get why they cut out mercenaries in favor of a half assed multiplayer mode. I'm pretty sure most people who saw resistance wanted an Outbreak style mode instead of the 4v1 jank we got. Most people were excited because that's what they thought they were getting.

AK912252d ago

Well if Polygon says this then it must be a must purchase title.

Hungryalpaca2251d ago

Sure. If you enjoy spending $60 on a 4 hour game.

I feel like they should have included the original games with the remakes they've been doing.
