I've never transferred anything to my SD card yet, so I don't know the average speed it was before the update. But considering the size of the game, that was very quick.

I remember way in the beginnen when i tried to transfer a save file...for such a small file it was taking too long...

But that seems fast i guess...have to try it my self.

it disables Twilight hack and DELETES any homebrew or Backup Virtual Console channel.

I repeat do NOT download.

Sounds like my VC downloads will be a breeze with this update and those new SD cards in the spring

Altered_Soul6385d ago

This is good news indeed. But educate me on something I know I should know. How do you transfer VC or WW titles to your SD card? I have never done it, and do you have to transfer them back to play them? Do the saves for that WW or VC game stay?

basically,

if you go to the WII button and click MEMORY MANAGEMENT you can either manage SAVE FILES or CHANNELS..

then when you are in either channels or save files you have 2 tabs at the top, WII MEMORY and SD CARD so you can see whats on what. then when you click any file you can see the blocks and general data and there is an option to DELETE or COPY and if you choose COPY it copies to the SD.. so at that point you have the game on the SD card and the WII memory. If you delete it off the Wii memory is it gone from your channels and you can't play the game from the SD. TO play the the game again you must go into your SD CARD and copy the file back to the wii.

I mainly use this for saved games because i don't play some games now and they have large save files and i will want to play them later and not loose my spot or unlocks. Some files you cannot copy (BRAWL SAVE FILE is the only one i know of) and everything is locked to your wii (in terms of CHANNELS, so you can't bring a game to a friend's house on the SD card)

also remember, any channel you downloaded from VC or WIIWARE can be downloaded again for FREE since you own the licence on that particular wii, so copying games over doesn't do that much, save files is nice though.

also with GUITAR HERO WORLD TOUR on the wii there is the option to DOWNLOAD SONGS and save them right to the SD card, very nice option.

Hope i helped, and any transfer speed thats faster is good :-)

Yes that was very helpful, thank you very much. Bubbles :).

And yeah I knew how to do it in GH:WT, as it is fairly straightforward and it asks you when done downloading a song.

Why the Wii is Such a Nostalgic System in 2026

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (1996) Still Feels Like Peak 90s Star Wars

This game along with Rogue Squadron got me into to Star Wars. The release of special edition VHS Star Wars collection was perfectly times on top of all that. 😆

Redgrave51d ago

Because it is.

Please re-release this.

SimpleSlave51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

But it wasn't. Although I do agree that some of the tie-in media, like the novels and comics, were pretty good.

Still, games like Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron, and the space sims were peak 90s Star Wars. Shadows fell flat because of the abysmal controls and unimaginative levels. And if you wanted to really experience the seedy side of the universe, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 was peak, and it wasn't even close.

Regardless, and much to my dismay, we got the better version thanks to Ubislop in Outlaws, which is what Shadows should've been, albeit at a smaller scale.

As a kid me and my cousins loved this game . I have great memories with this one and the Star Wars pod racer game .
