A new sort of Call of Duty lies ahead. Here's why this new battle royale style could come out on top.

Starting with the 2026 season, the publisher is removing the guaranteed revenue for league teams, historically set at $500,000 per year. A decision pushed by massive operating costs and top players being paid extreme salaries, which can exceed $400,000 per year. As a result, teams fear that operating at too great a loss will force them to revise their ambitions.

eSpots World Cup writes: "We’re coming back in 2026 with a squad of the most prestigious esports titles.
And four are yet to be announced."
Will your squad survive the night?
Its much better than BO4 Blackout.
Yea. If they pursue this model going forward (f2p multiplayer) they will become relevant again. I thought Activision was too stubborn to go this route but this move will keep them in the conversation going forward.
It is substantially more polished than pretty much any other BR on the market right now.
I am not even that much of a BR fan, but it is instantly noticeable when you start playing the game.
The pace is more akin to PUBG as opposed to Apex, and I think it looks and feels much better than PUBG.
I think the current landscape of BR's is the following.
Realistic -- PUBG, WARZONE,
Realistic High Mobility -- APEX
Fantasy -- FORTNITE
