didn't have a ps3 at the time. I bet its really fun and the graphics are like OMG, but I want to save that shock and awe till the whole deal comes out. I heard the single player is absolutely AMAZING! Besides I'm busy playing all the other ps3 exclusives that I missed out like HS, Uncharted, Lair, Resistance, and LBP.

the beta is ending around thanksgiving time and that will be it until the final game which is Feb 2009

I agree, As soon real information starts to get bombarded across the net I'll stop using it . I never really had anything to compare the first Killzone to (never played a Halo) I thought it was a good game.

Haven't commented to much in KZ2, yet. But if that goes on, I can't hold it any more. But I won't play it until Feb and don't won't to burn thru my excitement to early. :)

How is this a problem ? I mean they actually force you to take cover on a reload so it slows down the game a bit? I think that's great. You have a chance to counter an attack when someone is running at you shooting. Gotta make sure you have some cove around you in some case. No ? Same for grenade. Throwing a grenade in the open gets punished. Nothing wrong with this either, or is it ?

I sometimes wonder what the devs @ crytek think of GGs huge accomplishment on the ps3. It is worth noting that Guerilla games Has one of the next best games compared to crysis and its on a console not pc. Hats off to guerilla games cant wait for the release.

Believe me it's dope. The only thing that isn't fun is getting that network error every now and then when you try to log on.

yeah this one of those games where i dont constantly look at videos lol. The moment I got in the beta I never looked at another K2 video and probably never will.

I was all geeked up when I saw I was selected for the Beta.

Since then nearly every night I'm firing away. I created matches for every map available just to walk around and check out the layout without worrying about someone snipping me from across the map. The lighting really is a sight to behold. The destructible environments....really spot on. The recoil of the rifles is pretty accurate. Explosions are really cool with the lingering debris some 5-6 seconds after the fact is a nice touch. As far as game play.... addicting! Best Beta I've been a part of. By the way....the red glow of those goggles is really menacing! Especially when running down a dark corridor and you see the glow reflect of the walls. As well as the recoil fire when in a dimly lit room, once again…the lighting is stop notch!

Yes, nice textures are nice. I won't argue with that. However, the overall look of a game can be greatly accented by lens blur, smoke effects, enhanced particle effects, smooth animations, dynamic lighting, etc., and Killzone 2 has all of these things in spades. I mean, we can sit down and compare screenshots for hours, but at the end of the day when you crank up that KZ2 beta, there is absolutely nothing on the market that looks as stunning. Period.

(and this is coming from a huge Crysis fanboy who played the game at near-max settings. Crysis looks incredible, but the incredible size of the game is offset by the repetition in the levels. In other words, standing on a mountain and looking out on the landscape is breathtaking, but when you actually run into an enemy's camp and start seeing stuff up close, it's slightly less breathtaking).

ive been playing the beta for the last couple of weeks and i think its amazing yes the graphics are stunning but so is the gameplay, i love the controls it feels like your controlling a real person and not a gun on a camera.
but the thing that made me relise how special this game was when i bought cod: world at war booted up multi-player and how poor it looked and played compared to a beta i got for free, now i havent played single player KZ2 but if its half as good as the beta then its gonna be awesome.

also i think world at war is a big step back for FPS's feels like im playing a identi-kit shooter from the 90's (mostly single player im refering too). suppose just because it runs on cod4 engine dont mean its gonna be great IMO.

gameplay AND graphics can indeed co-exist, and work together to bring about a remarkable, memorable gaming experience.

it's funny how developers like Shigeru Miyamoto knew this two decades ago, when games like Super Mario Bros, Metroid, and Zelda were praised for not only having superb gameplay, but for pushing graphics forward in a way their contemporaries were, but now, it's completely irrelevant to the game-development process.

take a look at some of the best games of all time and what was said about them at the time. most, if not all of them, have a comment praising the beautiful visuals, from Super Mario Galaxy, to Shadow of the Colossus, to Metal Gear and Halo, ALL of them were praised for visuals AND gameplay.

the sudden mentality that if a game has pretty graphics, that means it suddenly had poor gameplay is perplexing to me.

Multiplayer is seriously good. Everything about the beta! Epic Games could learn a thing or two on how to make a good multiplayer experience. Gears 2 MP and its multiplayer in general is so boring

if someone shows me a single negative preview for killzone 2 beta, i will kindly buy them a beer!

im in the beta and yes its the best online experince ive ever played, plus just unlocked the sniper,love the camouflage.

P.S love how they used the sixaxis witht the sniping, makes you feel like your holding the gun.

This game is, by far, the best game I've played for a long..LONG time!

Sony really does need another mainline shooter franchise. They pretty much gave up after the PS3 generation, and I'm really surprised they haven't tried at another high-profile, singleplayer-centric shooter; even if it weren't Killzone or Resistance.

I miss Killzone while I can see why they still do Horizon has some really good things but I do think that Horizon is overrated imo.

Or how about studios focus on projects that they feel passionate about, and not be forced to make something they have little interest in. It shows in the final product.

It’s still got potential for the modern era. The DNA is all there. The install base is there. The interest is there. The time is now.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.

Killzone game after Killzone 2 play style would be nice

Motorstorm would be epic with the visual upgrade, maybe this game would be a harder sell with the genre being not as popular nowadays..

Sorry bud, but the PS3 generation was amazing and featured the greatest console comeback in history.

That said, I'd love it if Warhawk returned or Metal Gear Solid 4. It needs to not be shackled to the PS3 generation anymore. A Killzone 2 remake would be insane with modern graphics and that art direction.

I really miss this gen of gaming. It felt like the last truly "great" era for videogames before the modern approach really took hold.

The PS3 was such a glorious console. The UI, the games, the free online...just incredible.

I would pay good money for a Warhawk remake. Socom too. The last Socom game just didn’t do it justice. Folklore could use a remaster or remake as well.
Several other titles I would like to remade with the amount of visual fidelity the current gen has over the past consoles it could help articulate the games that we’ve loved growing up. I would love even some ps2 titles to remade.. Dark Cloud from ps2, Legacy of Kain series but don’t know what will come of it sense it was bought by Embracer group and all there layoffs.

This strategy is exactly what helped ruin Xbox. Sony more than Microsoft know when to let a franchise go and that is important to keep things fresh. The old games are there if you want to play them.

FF13 is top of this list for me. No matter your opinion on it, it being the only numbered offline FF out of all 16 not to be on new consoles is odd. GTA IV would be great too

The only reason my PS3 is still connected is because of the Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm games that I still love to play. I am for remaking or remastering them.

I was never a huge fan of Killzone, but thoroughly enjoy Horizon. Guerrilla are superb developer and easily up there with the best of the best.

Need a killzone 2 remake from the ground up.

Great studio, loved the Killzone series, I wish they would do a remake of the first three games. Horizon is a real step up and truly put Guerrilla Games on the map.

Too bad I never got a chance to play Shellshock: Nam’67 would have loved to try that game out back in the days to see what were their beginnings.

It would fantastic to see what they could do in Killzone after the lessons learned through Horizon.

Or heck, give us even a short linear FPS from the people who designed Cauldron THETA in the Burning Shores expansion. Even just flying into it (after gliding around and finding its opening amongst the lava and Sunwings perched around it, with other bigger machines just along the path toward it) was an incredible experience.

Forbidden West is awesome, It’s pretty damn big compared to Zero Dawn and it takes a little while to get your skills up and get the equipment you need to fully explore the game (not going to spoil it) but once you do those things and start fighting the big ass machines it really is amazing. Some cool side quests to where you hold the fate of peoples lives by your choice and the cauldrons look amazing. Lots of skills , combos, special moves and add ons for your weapons so you can approach fights many ways. Looking forward to the name game but I wonder how/if Silas will be a part of it or not ? Sad he’s gone.

I'm hyped for whenever Horizon 3 releases but Killzone 1 needs a remake BAD and 2 & 3 need remasters. Criminal those games are stuck on PS3.
