It's Time for Capcom to Bring Back Mega Man X

Jacob St-Amour from Link-Cable Writes: "The Mega Man franchise has become one of the most popular gaming series’ of all time since its introduction back in the late 80s and it continues to provide new and exciting releases for its fans. From its compilations with both Mega Man and Mega Man X Legacy Collections 1/2 as well as reviving the Blue Bomber with Mega Man 11, Capcom has shown that they are willing to work on this classic IP if the audience is willing to invest into these games. Having said all of that, it would be great to see the Japanese developer branch out and work on some of their classic sub-series that haven’t gotten the same treatment than the mainline Mega Man franchise has had over the years. This is referring to the Mega Man X line of games and it is time that Capcom brings back this version of the Blue Bomber."

“The first Mega Man X title was released back in 1994 on the SNES”

Mega Man X released on December 17, 1993

“The last game in the series, Mega Man X8 was released back in the winter of 2005 on both the PS2 and PC’s”

Mega Man X8 released on December 7, 2004

It’s depressing how bad game journalists are at their job.

Pro_TactX2275d ago

Let's be fair here. Mega Man X wasn't released in North America until January 1994, and Mega Man X8 wasn't released in North America until March of 2005. Maybe the journalist just wasn't counting the Japan release dates.

@ AK

Simple internet search clears everything up

@ Pro

“Mega Man X8 wasn't released in North America until March of 2005.”

Mega Man X8 was released in NA before any other territory in 2004. There’s no reason why the journalist would use the NA release for MMX and then the Japanese release for MMX8.

Also a series like Final Fantasy didn’t come to North America until 1990, but everyone correctly lists the series as beginning in 1987. There’s no excuse to get the date wrong

AK912276d ago

Agreed but didn’t the OG remaster collection sell more than the X collection?

FallenAngel19842276d ago (Edited 2276d ago )

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 still sold over 1 million which is a huge feat for this franchise.

Not only that but the MMX LC reached that milestone faster than MM LC did.

On top of that, MM11 was greenlit before MM LC even reached fhat milestone, all the more making it a given that we’ll see MMX9 sometime soon.

PhoenixUp2276d ago (Edited 2276d ago )

Since Nov 2019

- Mega Man 11 sold over 1 million
- Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 sold over 1.4 million
- Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 sold over 2 million

Instead of comparing the sales of one compilation to another, we should just be glad that Mega Man continues to be as overall successful as it is now so it can justify Capcom to start seriously supporting the series again.

Its time we got some Triple "B" games. Classic style platformers and shooters that don't rely on 3D graphics much "realism" as in try be real when they're not.

X was the best series for sure

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing16d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit16d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing16d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9216d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
