Atari brought home gaming in to the mainstream and with every generation more people have indulged in the industry. Every generation as is defining characteristics. This generation could easily be the generation of fanboys, or it could be the generation of hardcore. Gaming has been divided in to casual and hardcore. Wii, since its launch, has been considered for the causal gaming. The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are more rounded for the "Hardcore" crowd while not alienating casual gamers."

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
it highlights the problems the ps3 HAD, and says over the last 12 months sony has rectified these problems but 360 is a gamers machine because it doesnt force bluray and motion controls?
no 360 forces subscription charges,dvd9,wifi adapters, bad hardware, you even have to pay for certain themes, 360 is a good machine but graphically its near maxed out did gears2 blow you away as much as the 1st? look a† mgs4 then come back with an answer, scarily 2009 ps3 is big hitting graphically kz2 is just the start then gow3.the site talks about online lag...3 years into 360s lifecycle and im sorry gears2 has the worst lag ive seen i waited 30min to enter agame thats horrible
360 has done well but really its aging with hardly any 1st party exclusives rare are their most important studio right now i hope the rumours are true about killer instinct thats a 1st day purchase for me, sony thought ahead its a shame certain sites dont understand that
"The Playstation is the best overall system. It offers a reliability, Blu-ray technology, and a constantly growing community. But if you consider yourself a Hardcore gamer looking for that top notch online gaming experience, the 360 is the system you want right now."
If you're a hardcore gamer you'll make up your own mind about these type of things. I find it ridiculous that these articles come out basically telling you that if you fit into a certain group then you have no choice but to like this or that. I own a PS3, Wii and a 360. I play on PSN and Live. I enjoy them both because they both provide me with experiences I can't get on the other. This is do to the games. The exclusives. Everyone has their preferrences... and while this article does make some good points... I feel the writer is not looking at this as objectively as he may believe he is.
It just seems that the tone of this article is one of "All the true gamers play on the Xbox 360". Obviously the writer doesn't say it in those exact words... but I think it's very much the implied message.
If you ask me, the real hardcore and true gamers barely pay a second thought to what plastic box they're using. They think in terms of games... not systems.
WILL SOMEBODY GET THIS GUY A LIFE!!!
You know I can sit here and write lengthy articles about the state of affairs of this gaming industry as well. I won't even get into the RROD issue as that is just a low blow and I'm sure the 360 users are tired of hearing it. I'd say both have their variety and with the introduction of various genres (Whether new or old) both are becoming variety consoles in a sense.
Also I think thor stated it best in his comment:
"If you're a hardcore gamer, you should own at least one of PS3/360/PC. If you can afford it, and have enough time (I don't), you should have all 3."
That's exactly how I see hardcore gamers. Owning all 3 is no easy task in these times though.
I Think The Wii is Hardcore because you can kill people in No more Heroes and Manhunt2 taking advantage of the Wii-mote.
I also think The X360 is Hardcore because of You can Shoot people in Gears and Halo
I also think the PS3 is hardcore because you can shoot people in Resistance and Mgs4
This makes no sense. There isnt such thing as a "Hardcorier" Console.
Im off to another thread with my MAX SPEED!!!
