I'm trying hard not to be a fanboy, but my common sense and foresight just can't help preferring one more than the other. I feel that as long as I have good reasons for doing so, it's much less fanboyish.

I don't consider myself a fanboy, since I don't regret either my PS3 or 360 purchases, I just prefer my PS3 and if Sony were to fail and leave the industry for good, it would be a huge blow to innovation. Sony needed to be taken down a peg though, but I'm really against a Microsoft monopoly in gaming, the way they've monopolised other industries by pouring in money rather than innovating.

And both should shut the hell up!

don't care about fanboys unless they are the ones that run gaming sites and put out reviews. Then it is a problem. I can name 4 sites/magazines off the top of my head that show blatant fanboyism and it is irritating cuz it fuels the average joe fanboy out there.

There is one thing I still cannot understand about console fanboys: Why, why, why do they get so worked up over a hunk of plastic and metal?

But they're still fanboys. It's like "special children" winning on the special olympics. They sure won, but they're still "special children". If some "special child" can win the olympics then I guess PoG or the Mart could state a true fact they read on the news.

However, fanboys will never recognize that other machines do something better. For example, it's a fact that the PS3 is more powerful on paper than the 360, and the PS3 exclusives show that. It's also a fact tha PS3 is sh1t for games started on 360. It's a fact that 360 will show its potential more than the PS3 because it's a lot easier to squeeze it as its a very flexible machine.

No machine is perfect, and everyone has their own reasons. I am usually labeled a PS3 fanboy but I'm not, I simply prefer my Ps3 because it's never rroded on me and I think it's the only complete machine. I still recognize Sony made some mistakes with the PS3 just as Microsoft did with their 360.

I don't like the choices Nintendo made for the Wii and DSi either so that's why I'm harsher with them. I have all three consoles though. Considering I have reasons for preferences that aren't related with the company that made the consoles I don't consider myself a fanboy. I know I would be very harsh with Sony if they had delivered a PS2.1 packaged as a PS3.

No fanboy is right or wrong, not even the logical one's(if there is such a thing), and we can defend our respective systems until we are blue in the face but at the end of the day every console has it's strength and weaknesses. That said, PS3 forever and all haters need to start recognizing the best system has a name with a 3 at the end not the middle.

Even though I'm a sony loyalist but I try to be fair. Every system has its pro's and con's whether you are biased or not you must admit that. I honestly think the 360 is a good system, but is held back by extremely faulty hardware. The wii may not have the technical prowess of the other 2 but it still manages to provide entertainment in its own way. There are illogical fanboys on all system just as much as logical ones.

This gen for me was either going to be PS3 and Wii or 360 and Wii. I am a smart consumer not fanboy, my main reasons I chose a PS3 over a 360 because of price, reliability and games. 360 looked cheaper at first but after adding everything I need which is Wifi, hard drive, playing online and MS still charges $50/yr WTF. And read this, NONE of my friends are on their original 360 and that includes my best friend's "Elite". As for games, MGS4 and GOW3(can't wait) was enough to keep me from going with MS.

The Wii is pretty much for the wife and kids, it's if you've played one game you've played them all. The Wii is not a serious gaming machine. Yes, Nintendo's first party games are always fun but they even managed to screw up Mario Kart this gen.

Marketing calls it cognitive differnce = as long we are in doubt of our buy we wont be able to enjoy it - So we point out the flaws on the alternative, so we can rest assure we made the right buy. The people who never can rest assure is turned into fanboys or the people who feel such a commitment to the brand that they become rabel fans. And both side contribute to the competition of the consoles, but it have to be draining to fight this never ending "battle" ?

No one is the winner, both systems are great even though I do not own a 360. Both are good competition for each other and this means we the consumer benefit. End of story.

I use the 360 for the gaming experience right now im playing The Thing backwards compatable game (good horror game) and 5 bucks a month for Xbox Live is pretty much worth it and people who say ps3 online is free should remember you always get what you pay for...lol you might think your saving by getting things cheap but they never work as good as something thats good quality and you end up having to get the same dam broom from the 99 cents store 20 times arrrarrrrarh (goes and watches kid eat habanero pepper on you tube)...

No fanboys are always right. However, Sony fanboys are often wrong. Until the PS3 has sold the same amount either of the other 2 competitors, it's losing, and until it starts bringing out amazing exclusives like the 360 it will fail to do so. I know PS3 has sold faster, but when it catches up let me know.

- Gears 2 has an amazing campaign, but the multi-player is nothing to talk about.
- Resistance 2 has a short campaign that was just sort of mediocre, but the multi-player DESTROYS Call of Duty 4.
- The Xbox 360 had a much better lineup until this holiday season.
- The PS3 is blatantly more powerful and Killzone 2 is just one example of this.
- I haven't touched my Wii in months...because none of us have had a reason to.

So many fanboys/fangirls commenting in here about other fanboys it's funny. So many hypocrites..

I can't claim to have been around for as long as some, but I've never seen any sort of 'fanboy' war which has been fought with such unbelievable passion and vigour as 360 VS. PS3. We can blame the internet for that one.

The fine line which people find difficulty in keeping sharp is that it's possible to have a unique opinion of a console and all it encompasses and also own that console. Just because a game is a specific console exclusive, doesn't mean anyone has an obligation to like it, especially if you own that console.

For example, I'm a PS3 owner, and I don't like Heavenly Sword. This on first glance seems like a simple idea but you'd be surprised at the absurd amounts of inane preaching which roots from nothing but consumer bias.

People need to realise they have no obligation to protect 'their' console, and that 'their' console is nothing more than a material object. Both companies make mistakes, and both companies, in totally different ways, shaft their consumer. No game is exempt from criticism (apart from, in my opinion, the original Half-Life), and it is not a fanboy's duty to fight relentlessly for the reputation of given game. I see it incredulous that a fanboy will deliberately prevent themself from admitting another game is good because it is on another console. Does it not defy logic?!

I have noticed several trends over the past year or so which seem to come into popularity and then fade as they become defunct or irrelevant. E.g. '360 has red rings' 'All 360 games are on PC' 'digital downloads are replacing blu ray'. This in itself displays how very pathetic all this conflict is.

Don't get me wrong. To have a preference is simply a natural reaction to what you experience. There is nothing wrong with that. But why bother disregarding the quality of another console and constantly comparing it to your own? It's a futile and above all childish method of reassuring yourself you made the right purchase and, to be honest, a very very sad state of affairs.

Just enjoy what you have. Both consoles quite clearly have a wealth of uniquely brillant features and games on offer, so why must people eat into their own game time by shedding tears over this pathetic war?

On the topic of the question? Neither. Both, on the most part, are immature, obtuse teenagers who don't have a single clue about gaming. Very rarely do I see someone with even the most remote semblance of intellectuality post a blind 'fan boy' argument, and I think the reason's obvious.

I have a PS3, and enjoy it. I don't spend my time worrying about the other consoles.

I've in the UK and have been playing videogames for over 25 years. The term 'fan boy' is so gauche, so daft. It sounds like something from the 1950s and yet the many people who use it probably think that they are being really modern. So that's about 99% of people on here that I've offended then, whether they're a 'fan boy' or not.

They are the ones who help support the systems through the hard times until mainstream buys the systems later. Their "passion" for gaming is what helps fuel sites like this and what makes blogs so popular.

Without fanboys where would the world be. The cues in shops would be longer for a start. There would be more traffic on the roads.
