Death Stranding Structures | Five Buildings Every Porter Needs

There are a lot of different Death Stranding structures that can be built - but only a few are essential for Porters beginning their journey.

!Spoilers ahead!

Disagree with three of those. I never built my own bridge, watchtower or postbox (that I wasn't forced to).

Yet, I finished with a rating over 450 and often helped others/returned packages. I just did it at the official terminals. Bridges? I'll find a way around if another user didn't build one.

My main building was a zipline. I literally built my own highway of ziplines that focused on the hardest places I traveled to often first. Weather Station was my first hookup once I got them. Then Mountain Knot and then the easier places. If another user's zip was meaningless to my highway I removed it. I finished with the capability to get anywhere in about 2-3 minutes. I didn't always use them but the option was there.

After that it was time fall shelters. Those came in handy but I still only built a few and all but one for the NPC Porters' sake.

If you remove random ziplines do others pop up? They don't add to your chiral(?) network so is there a reason to remove them?

Edit: I guess your saying they were just in the way for speedsake I am running out of network but I think I like too many ziplines routes

Chumdiddy2337d ago

Yes, they were just clutter if they didn't fit my highway of them. They don't add bandwidth.

However, a good tip that I didn't learn until it was WAY too late is that you can delete structures from the map menu/cufflink using the triangle button.

Do you know how much traveling I did to delete structures (my own and others) that I could have done in seconds from the menu?
Lmao

TFJWM2337d ago

Yes deleting from the map is key. I wish I had been making ziplines from right after mama it was well after I figured how key they were. My roads got hard use.

Chumdiddy2337d ago

Right. I would sometimes switch between roads and zips after zips became a bit too easy/boring. Then switch back when driving became boring and so on.

I had to go delete a bunch of my early zips (right near Mama) because I didn't factor bandwidth and I had them EVERYWHERE near that waterfall. Just wasteful haha.

Once I crossed the mountain I realized that my entire system was boned and I basically rebuilt it from scratch.

Hint: USE MOUNTAIN TOPS (haha). A few select tops have almost perfect 360 vision for miles around. Those spots became the backbone of my major highway.

TFJWM2337d ago (Edited 2337d ago )

Yes highest points are key even when you don't think you can get up there. A couple mins climbing a peak pays off in the long run. And it is so cheap to upgrade for the extra 50. I only have 3 left to Max for plat first prep is annoying me thou.

Definitely postboxes and repair sprays. I keep building them since I'm always hoarding. I always put the furthest destination items in them and take them on my way back.

Hideo Kojima put Low Roar in Death Stranding because gamers need more culture in their lives

It's important in life to maintain a broad palette when it comes to culture and the arts. Hideo Kojima agrees, as he continues to use video games like Death Stranding to introduce people to music and other elements they might not otherwise discover.

Cool, as long as no one is losing their job while already rich people make more money.

Notellin231d ago

Exactly this right here. Tools should never replace creators.

DarXyde231d ago

I feel that this is the position of every sensible person. However, we face two prominent issues:

1. There are nefarious actors (like Microsoft) who want to prohibit AI regulation. Some US states have some regulations in place, but it's very patchwork at best.

2. Without strict quality control and human review, AI is very likely to hallucinate in embarrassing ways.

Lol.... People are gonna be losing their jobs...

Travesty231d ago

I’m all in favor for faster developed games.. that’s been the Achilles heel this gen.. taking 5+ years for development. If it can help with building vast landscapes then let it be. A win win if it doesn’t endanger the jobs of current team. They can help in other areas.

Gamersunite880231d ago

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

H9231d ago

I don't doubt kojima that he has good intentions and would use AI without compromising the creative process, but you know for sure other development will say the same and have AI make the whole game for them.

Notellin231d ago (Edited 231d ago )

Yeah and whoever he works for or whatever AI models he chooses to use will train on his data and work to replace Kojima themselves.

I can't imagine any other creator in gaming that demands the salary size of Kojima.

What I wonder about, let’s say five years from now. Will an individual be able to make a triple A title using A.I…If so what would be the need for others? I hate to say it but eventually people will loose their jobs. Because I hear no talk about the ethics of using A.I. among the big companies.
