Google Stadia vs. Microsoft xCloud: The battle for cloud gaming

Here's everything gamers know so far about the two game-streaming services.

Stadia vs xcloud. The beauty of having options. If i had to choose i'd go for xcloud but I prefer local hardware.

I think google had something illogical for which stadia was based on. If you are trying to offer the poor people access to triple AAA games without requiring them to buy a console to save them money.. these are the same people who wont have 25 Mbps. They likely have 10-15 Mbps if even that. They dont have the bandwidth to stream games. Local hdd is the way to go. I thought stadia was about google having a collective, gigantic console For community sharing that will do the processing and that would solve the problem of console collecting. I was excited for google entering the video game but they should have offered a “me too” console even if its not revolutionary. I was hoping they created a powerful android console better than nvidia shield, at the level of sony or microsoft, with an actual hard drive that can be connected. Nvidia shield with only 16 gb leaves a lot to be desired. And the playstore already have games established so this extends games on android to be tripe A level.

Aren't you forgetting the current leader in streaming with PS Now?

Tross2351d ago

Do you really think Stadia could compete with PS NOW? Not that it can compete with xCloud either, mind you.

darthv722351d ago

Ps now is the leader of old games. So they have that going for them.

Stanjara2351d ago

It's interesting that Xbox BC is praised to hevans, but when talking streaming then PS now only has old games.

Ricegum2351d ago

Stanjara

Bingo. Hilarious isn't it.

darthv722351d ago (Edited 2351d ago )

They need a balance of old AND new games.

@stan, a few newer games does not negate the overwhelming majority of old games.

So, wouldn't stadia and PSNow be comparable then? Stadia is mostly old games. As of right now, PSNow actually has some games that are newer than the majority of games on Stadia. Also, does xCloud have a lot of new games on it?

PS Now is pretty much irrelevant at this point because Sony doesn't put their games and invest enough in the service, therefore it will be ignored.

Ugh - streaming, I'll take up lawn bowls if gaming goes this way.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing31d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9231d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit31d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing31d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9231d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
