Seriously this is what it looks like. Ps5 Deb kits much better than this. I am calling it now 12-24 months in Ps5 will be double the install base. Ms just doesn't get it and is stuck in limbo

On one hand they are chasing the hardcore gamers and on the other they want casual gamers. We will hear words like beast etc from XBDF but end result will not be that much different. Sony is laughing somewhere

King82226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

We all know ps5 will probably sell way more then the Xbox series x but at least Microsoft trying to make their fans happy by releasing another console.

AngelicIceDiamond2226d ago

Ok what's that suppose to mean? They were planning on releasing a new console this whole entire time. In 2013 and 2014 this place said MS not makin another console because they screwed up so much with X1. Now we have XSX.

2226d ago
RedDevils2226d ago

It look nothing like the ps2, just cause it rectangle shape.

2pacalypsenow2226d ago

"but at least Microsoft trying to make their fans happy by releasing another console."

huh?

Is Sony not releasing a Ps5?

bumbleforce2226d ago

Sell more yes but more people will be playimg xbox and by the end of the gen the mindshare will be on xbox side. Hellblade is just the start

Sony is laughing based on the face that the X looks like a pc tower? The PS5 dev kits look better than this? PS5 will double install base. Xbox stuck in limbo? You got all this from the look? Er........

zsquaresoff2226d ago

Ya man the ps5 dev kit looks better than the stacked tissue box called the xbox s series

2226d ago
xX-oldboy-Xx2226d ago

It's not a great design though is it? And considering ms has just limped into 3rd place with just on a year to go until next gen - Sony once again doubling their install base seems very doable.

AngelicIceDiamond2226d ago

Wait this isn't the final design now is it? I certainly hope not tbh.

bouzebbal2226d ago

lol the caveman is back... finally something to be hyped for??

2226d ago
xX-oldboy-Xx2226d ago

shaggy - ms has had none of that for the last 10yrs, more console iterations than new ips.

Short memory or just very forgiving.

2226d ago
NatureOfLogic_2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

Not a good look tbh and the name is just as bad as the Wii U.

Pickledpepper2226d ago

@old boy
Xbox is not in third place, I don't know where you are getting you information from but I think you need to check your sources, they are way out in front of the Wii U.
When the next gen does release from both Microsoft and Sony then you can compare the switch.
If you look at it another way the switch is way out in front because the others haven't released their next gen consoles yet.

xX-oldboy-Xx2226d ago

shaggy - NEW ips - not 2nd or 3rd or party exclusives. You literally listed 3 sequels in your reply haha.

ms really doesn't have to try hard to fool you guys.

Neonridr2226d ago

I don't know.. that PS5 dev kit looks ugly as f***. Imagine that sitting next to your TV. At least this is more geometrically pleasing when paired with all your other devices in your TV unit.

fiveby92226d ago

Well the design is ok. It is called the X"box". Hope it can also sit horizontally.

DJStotty2226d ago

failing to point out that you can also lay the console flat (like all the others)

darthv722226d ago

@above... it can sit horizontal as well.

I get an X68000 vibe from it but that one could only stand, not lie down. There was also the PCFX.

If you take an XB S and ADE and put them next to each other you get this.

thexmanone2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

LOL, My robo Vac looks like the PS5. Sony has a sad looking console

battlegrog2226d ago

Some console fans are stuck when Its time for consoles to evolve and innovate. This is a smart design and very small considering the power it has compared to computers with the same specs

"Ms just doesn't get it and is stuck in limbo" whatever that means sounds your hurt and crying to me so you just make crap up outta thin air. Hell Blade ll got announced what's you're excuse about that?

mandingo2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

Love how you base that off a console design. Shows your true colors.

KillBill2226d ago

"Ps5 Deb kits much better than this." - wow, you are really smoking crack on that idea.

XBSX... It is simple and functional. Only as wide and deep as a controller and not the size as a PC case. PS5 Dev kit is just.... seriously godawful.

vikingland12226d ago

I agree with your size assessment. Plus it looks about 2 disc slots tall. So it's approximately 9" tall by 6" wide and deep so 6"x 6"x 9" approximately. That's not very big and should fit well in most TV stands.

KillBill2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

@vikingland1 - I think you are a slight bit off on the dimensions. Xbox One controller is basically about 6" wide I would put the XBSX at approx 6.5" wide and deep. I would put it at just slightly over 3 controllers in height. Xbox One controller is 4.25" height. So I would put the XBSX right at about 13" in height. So 6.5" x 6.5" x 13" is closer to the dimensions with my quick estimated calculations.

It really is close to about the same size as a shoe box. (but not quite as wide)

vikingland12226d ago

@KillBill
We were both close with our guesses, a Colt Eastwood video shows it to be "6x"6x"12. Like what you said. Good deduction .

Ceaser98573612226d ago

Why do you even care about a dev kit? Like seriously this is childish. We all know dev kits aint the final product. Look at how weird the PS4 dev kit looks like...

timotim2225d ago

Are people really bringing up the dev kits of the PS5 now as some measuring point? Really?

+ Show (2) more repliesLast reply 2225d ago
DJStotty2226d ago

You got all that from a design?

You sir, should put the lottery on seeing as you know the future, and have inside knowledge of what the PS5 will look like

Antifan2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

Idk, as I get older, the flashy design choices in electronics really don't impress me anymore. I'm growing to like more simplistic designs. I'm more worried about MS grand idea to create multiple varieties with lower specs that could hold back innovation in some games. At the end of the day, it's all about games.

darthv722226d ago

What are you talking about... PS5 dev kit looks like a bedpan.

Xavi4K2226d ago

so you are judging that the console will lose just because you don't like how it looks like lol....did you even see hellblade 2 trailer?? casue that the quality of games you will see from now on on Xbox...this gen was black page in Microsoft history yet it doesn't mean next gen will be the same.

Flewid6382226d ago

You plan on looking at the games on screen or the box?

battlegrog2226d ago

You're stuck under a rock not evolving. This is a much more practical design for air flow. People said the ps pro got so hot and loud. This is a small deisgn for the specs it has compared to any pc. Only a console person stuck in the past would make that comment. So are you the bitching causal or hardcore or neither and just here to talk nonsnese

2226d ago
xander707692226d ago

Do people really care that much what the console looks like? What matters is what it can do and how it performs etc. I'm still way more excited for PS5 than this, but don't understand the freaking out about how it looks.

GamerFrank852226d ago

I'm laughing at this comment.

isarai2226d ago

Im not a huge fan of the design(i think it looks ok), but looking at how many people own an Alexa which is pretty much the same footprint, its not gonna be a problem to the masses.

dcbronco2226d ago

I'm going to trust Microsoft engineers over some idiots on the internet. If they say the specs came first and the design is what they had to do to accommodate them I'm ok with that. Given the excellent design of the One X I know they know what they're doing.

2225d ago
DEEHULK882225d ago

We know nothing about the games coming but so-called experts on here like NG1992 act like they know what the future holds. MS doesn't get what? They have the power and now all they need the games. You have no idea about the games they have coming....so how can anyone draw any conclusions about the system based on this quick showing of how it looks? Fanboys are the worst

jwillj2k42225d ago

Tech52226d ago

i'm digging the isometric position. like the thumbnail. just notice that.
but that's not what i'm most interested in. how does the internal parts stack up.
and how much computational power is utilized in the design.

2226d ago
BLizardXD2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

it looks fine enough and it also has a disc drive. it looks straight to the point.
i can only imagine the amount power this thing will have in exchange for trimming the fat off of a gimmicky case.
a missile is what xbox gamers are expecting. 4 times the amount of computational power of X is once again quoted.

2226d ago
DJStotty2226d ago

I like the design, good cooling solution, heat rises and the vent is at the top as opposed to the sides

Larrysweet2226d ago

It looks like pure shit be real

XBManiac2226d ago

Think maybe about an standard PC graphics card inserted in a PCB, with a big colector in the middle of the box to collect so much heat to the top. No horizontal position for this, I supose.

rlow12226d ago

On their website, it says it can be put into the horizontal position.

rainslacker2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

It's designed to push all the air out in one go, with a single large fan. Whether it's vertical or horizontal, so long as the heat collection area stays clear, the fan should blow it out. Quite a few smaller PC cases are designed with this in mind, and work fine using a sideways airflow.

If I were to have a concern, it would be that in horizontal use, the majority of the heat would be pushed out the side, instead of the back, unless you turned the vents towards the back, which would make the CD slow less accessible, and possibly show the wires more....making the form and function idea go just to function. I personally would prefer the heat be pushed out the back of my entertainment center, but understand that's just a matter of how mine is set up. This thing wouldn't fit in the vertical position in my entertainment center at all.

Not that I have a concern about the heat, just that's how I'd look at it if I were thinking about it.

Parasyte2226d ago

I wonder if the layout of the internal components will be similar to the Corsair One.

GameBoyColor2226d ago

This naming gives me Wii U flashback lol

Servbot412226d ago

It's almost as if they learned nothing from Nintendo's mistake. I wasn't even sure it was a new console until after the initial announcement.

andron2226d ago

Yeah thought the same thing. Ms have truble making good names for its consoles. This time they should just have stuck with Scarlett...

darthv722226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

Its now a series. Xbox series X is just the first and there may be an Xcloud series as well. There could be an X2, X3, X4, maybe an XD (digital) XS (slim)

Like most devices that come out with new series and then the identifiers in that series. Like iphone and their number and sub letter. 8, 8r, 8s (for example)

Atom6662226d ago

Yeah, it is starting to make sense. X has been gaining popularity as their power moniker lately. Moving forward, this will probably be referred to simply as the X series like you described.

You can easily introduce an S series, a Lite series, etc. If they could have named it just "Xbox," I think people would understand their goal here a little more clearly. Their past naming issues kind of prevented that though.

It also brings with it a sense of sophistication. Xbox Series _____ doesn't sound like a toy. It sounds like a piece of tech, or phone, or car. All of which are consumer products that we've easily learned to identify the various models and iterations in.

2226d ago
UnholyLight2226d ago

It's definitely new for consoles, but it makes sense. The name taps into consumer Psyche and how we view new products as superior with certain monikers. iPhone 11 PRO, "Black Series" in high end cars, X in Xbox One X as the superior console. Every smart brand knows that using these types of buzzwords are something that consumers hang off of and allow them to differentiate "Best from the rest".

However, I do think the name is almost a little clunky but I like the acronym XSX!

darthv722226d ago

Maybe Nintendo will have the NSX?

rainslacker2226d ago

That does make sense. I just hope it doesn't lead to a never-ending upgrade cycle, as I really don't want to see console go the smartphone route.

+ Show (2) more repliesLast reply 2226d ago
rainslacker2226d ago

It's a pretty uninspired name, and I'm wondering what the talk was all about that the name would somehow encapsulate the capabilities of the system. This just feels like they used check and replace to swap "one" for "series", and it makes no real logical sense in terms of progression. Not that Xbox One did, but at least the "one" had something to do with their vision.

So, as of now, I'm wondering if there is more to the "Series" that they haven't revealed yet.

Inzo2226d ago

The design looks uninspiring but its whats under the hood that counts. Congrats Xbox gamers, this along with the Hellblade announcement must make you pretty stoked.

SyntheticForm2226d ago

It's overload for me considering I'll be buying this alongside the PS5. Hellblade 2 is such a sweetener and looks to be a launch title.

Finally something gritty and serious from a Microsoft studio that isn't boring ol' Gears. So happy to see Ninja Theory working on this because I really wanted a Hellblade 2 and Bleeding Edge is just cringe to me.

Hopefully Microsoft's studios will be pursuing more mature themes and start trying to rival Sony's games in both visual fidelity and originality.

moriarty18892226d ago

agreed bro. this is a breathe of fresh air for MS.
