Curious if MS will repurpose this engine for other first party titles.

ReadyPlayer222365d ago

Personally would hope not because I feel the studios know what they need better than anyone. It'll be better to let them make their own tech (ala ForzaTech engine by Turn 10) than have an EA situation where every studio had to use Frostbite engine.

SephirothX212365d ago (Edited 2365d ago )

That's not necessarily true because an engine is just a codebase that can be branched and tailored for each game it's used to make. Hardware is so much better now that engines can be more generalised to begin with and modified to suit the game. Though nowadays, they are used more so as marketing tools than anything else because non-programmers don't really understand what they are.

neutralgamer19922364d ago

Seph

Not true unless the engine was originally built with multiple types of games. A lot of developers complain about EA engine because it's not built for open world games yet EA wants everyone to use it

Yui_Suzumiya2364d ago

It'd be a waste of they didn't

1nsomniac2365d ago (Edited 2365d ago )

Corrected article - This is a “TARGET RENDER” Every single statement we make is void - end of article.

Well done Gaming Bolt, you even state yourself that 343 has openly stated that all footage was a target render cinematic so why waste such a massive amount of time making that video in the first place!

TK-662364d ago

Because they've not claimed this is how the game will actually look come release. This is purely looking at what the engine can accomplish even if it's not in the final game. In essence this is an analysis of a tech demo for an engine; similar in nature to the UE tech demos.

So, no. It's not a waste of time.

Gfx are over rated these days I'd like to see mote advance ai and physics

Daz2365d ago

This is true. I want more destruction in games.

2364d ago
UnholyLight2364d ago

Well yeah advanced ai and physics is awewome, but I wanna see photorealistic video games being a possibility before I die okay. Graphics are one of my main drivers for immersion when I'm playing fps or shooters or a couple years from now when the next Elder Scrolls game comes out...Im looking for that deep immersion because the graphics have my jaw on the floor.

lifeisgamesok2365d ago

Halo Infinite hasn't given me that next generation feeling so far from the cinematics

FanboySpotter2365d ago

You gotta see df's analysis on the last trailer

lifeisgamesok2365d ago

Games like the sequel to Horizon, Spider-man, God of War, Days Gone, Gears 6, won't need an analysis to know they're next generation games

Spurg2365d ago

The jump in details has nearly peaked this gen so it all about the effects and lighting

lifeisgamesok2365d ago

I think Death Stranding's cutscenes are more impressive than what we've seen from Halo Infinite

Ricegum2364d ago

Lifeisgamesok

Ooh people aren't going to like that. Although I completely agree. Death Stranding's are top drawer.

CaptainCook2365d ago

Halo Infinity cinematic is running at 60fps, not 30fps.

Halo Infinite's live service updates will be ending with Operation: Infinite set to be released on November 18, 2025.

-Foxtrot195d ago

So much for that 10 year platform plan

darthv72195d ago

...and its barely been 4 years. LMAO

DarXyde194d ago

Halo Infinite?
Hell no, It's Finished.

... I'll see myself out.

crazyCoconuts195d ago

Taking the "in" out of Infinite

RaidenBlack194d ago

... and he broke into the attic again and got his drums back.

Yang_kai194d ago

Well good luck with the next game, been on almost all systems will help the game life and strengthen their community with fresh blood.

RaidenBlack194d ago

no MP till Halo 7, as per leak
Don't know if it'll release parallelly with Halo 2R or Halo 3R or totally after the trilogy of remakes.

Inverno194d ago

Onto the next 10 year promise! When that turns out to be more Unreal slop you can drop it and promise the same for the game after.

franwex194d ago (Edited 194d ago )

I’m one of the 15 people that regularly play this. Oh well. Hopefully the game will retain a small dedicated player base.

Halo art director leaves studio after 17 years with ominous message alluding to discontent

Glenn Israel writes: "As of today and after seventeen long years, I am officially no longer contributing to the Halo universe. There is little more I can say for the moment, though I intend to share this particular story in its entirety when it is absolutely safe to do so next year. In the meantime, I have a message for anyone and everyone who needs to hear it.

I know that the state of our industry seems dire, but never forget that you are *free to choose*. No illusion of security nor promise of wealth or fame or power is worth trading away your health, your dignity, your ethics or values - and no one can force you to. Stay strong, take evidence when necessary, and find where you belong."

My god.
There's a story for next year.

VenomUK223d ago

I’m really disappointed to learn there are still people/morale problems. I thought the whole point of rebranding 343i to Halo Studios was to signal that real changes had been made - not to cynically rebrand to paper over the problems.

I really hope the Halo CE remake is great and gets people hyped for the future of the series.

DarXyde222d ago

It's inevitable with the modern landscape. Even if some issues have been assuaged, new ones crop up all the time.

I'm willing to bet AI and the lack of regulation is causing substantial upset.

shinXseijuro223d ago (Edited 223d ago )

He said something very marking . We tend to complain a lot about the industry but deep down I realize that we never have we been offered this crazy amount of games all available for you to play now . You can literally play any sorts of games in 2025 . Nobody is forcing you to buy the latest COD or the latest BF . You’re more of a 8 bit cozy gaming guy there’s a whole niche of modern games for that . You like micromanaging there’s games for that . I feel like we have been spoiled so much we just stopped being realistic and thinking for ourselves . We follow trends cry about stuff online when you are the buyer you have the power .

Notellin222d ago

I'm not buying any games until another Immersive sim is made.

PhillyDonJawn223d ago

....wth happened over there?
Does this confirm a new Halo by next year?
What did they want him to do that made him feel it was morally wrong or a insult to his integrity?

-Foxtrot223d ago

Well how about that, a name change doesn’t fix internal issues

Who would have thought

jznrpg223d ago

MS was throwing money around for a long time but now it’s time to pay the Piper.
