Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order PS4 Pro Performance Is Solid 60 FPS

I got to play Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and the game's performance is a solid 60 FPS on PS4 Pro, but there is a small catch.

60FPS @ 1080p, or 30FPS @ an (unspecified) higher resolution.

Doesn't seem like a catch, I think it's great the devs are including multiple options for gamers.

Neonridr2304d ago

1440/1800 checkerboard most likely. That'll do fine I guess.

Wasabi2304d ago (Edited 2304d ago )

@Neon

***"1440/1800 checkerboard most likely"***

Sounds about right buddy, whatever it turns out to be, it's great to have the option.

Neonridr2304d ago

@Fragnum - agreed, choices are always better.

Unspoken2303d ago (Edited 2303d ago )

Great options, but after watching it at 1440p on the Pro, the graphics took a hit to be able to maintain that frame rate. 1080p with Ultra settings looked pretty good on PC at 60 fps.

Next Gen all games should give us the option to pick

I agree,

Though I'm hoping that next gen will be far less of a compromise and that higher resolutions AND decent frame rates will be the focus.

Xbox is already talking about higher frame rates being a priority on Project Scarlett, I expect PlayStation will adopt the same approach with PS5.

bluebenjamin2304d ago

Nice thE Pro needed this 🙏

SolidGamerX2303d ago

Solid 60fps and options, all consoles need this.

bluebenjamin2303d ago

The Pro needed it even more we havent seen it enough on the premium playstation 4 but X box one x thats a different story

SolidGamerX2303d ago

Not 100% of the time on x either but the next generation is upon us and then hopefully, happily, this particular pissing match will be over.

moriarty18892304d ago

1080/60 is what i want with my Pro. I play on a 1080p Dell Infinity edge 27 inch monitor. Will look beautiful to me as all my other Pro games do.

thesoftware7302304d ago

just buy it on the X instead. Guaranteed to run better. That is what I plan to do.

Neonridr2304d ago

that's helpful if you happen to own an X. I don't. So my choices are the Pro or my PC. And while my PC is definitely more powerful, sometimes I just want to chill on my sofa with a beer.

Wasabi2304d ago

@Neonridr

***"while my PC is definitely more powerful, sometimes I just want to chill on my sofa with a beer"***

Exactly this.

thesoftware7302303d ago

I love my PS4 as well but 3rd party games generally run better on the X.

and why cant you just plug your PC into your T.V HDMI? My son plays almost all his games on Our PC..he might even get SW on PC...I just like the Xbox eco system a bit more than PC and PS4, so 3rd party games I usually get on the X.

Psychotica2303d ago

Just stream it to your tv through Steam, I do this a lot..

Neonridr2303d ago

@thesoftware730 - I could totally run an HDMI from my GPU to my TV and play it there. But wireless keyboard / mouse coupled with then having to find a surface to play it on. I guess for this game I could simply use a wireless gamepad. Definitely not impossible, just would be easier to plop the game into my PS4 at the end of the day.

Nodoze2303d ago

Agreed. Also having the ability to play on a MUCH larger screen, with full surround, and (if installed) tactile feedback is the only way to play. Highly recommended.

fatbastard112303d ago

Have you heard of an HDMI cable? You connect it from the back of your PC to the slot on your TV.

Hungryalpaca2303d ago

Then use a controller on your Pc? Why do people act like it’s some mystical impossible thing

Neonridr2303d ago

@Hungryalpaca - years of playing with a keyboard and mouse on PC. It's hard to just "use another method" just because. For example, ever since cross save went live on Destiny 2 I switched to PC and mouse / keyboard. Asking me to use a gamepad again would be like asking me if I want to purposely make my experience worse.

Hungryalpaca2303d ago

Your logic makes no sense. You’ll get it on the pro because you want to chill with a beer on the couch but you can do that with a Pc by using a controller. Then say you don’t want to use a controller because of years of mouse and keyboard...but will get it on the pro? That...uses a controller?

Neonridr2302d ago

@Hungryalpaca - sorry, obviously certain games benefit more from the mouse and keyboard than others. In the case of a game like this I could easily use a gamepad and be fine. But I don't want to use a gamepad when I am sitting at my computer, I'd rather the mouse and keyboard because it's more intuitive. But when gaming on my PS4 I don't have that option, do I? I know it's strange, but just something I have become accustomed to.

Exvalos2303d ago

Good for you buddy have at it.

masterfox2303d ago

the only thing the X runs better is over your wallet, the thing is expensive for no justified reason lol.

CaptainHenry9162303d ago

The only thing I got from your comment is that it was hilarious 😂

thesoftware7302303d ago

No justified reason? have you played on on a 4k T.V? with so many great deals you can get one close to a PS4 PRO price, and it has better performance..that seems worth it to me.

I'm in no way bashing the PS4 because I game on all 3 systems..im just stating facts, that 3rd party games generally run better on the X over the Pro...If you exclude PC the only reason to play on the PS4 is that you like the interface better or you dont have an X..both good reasons..so not knocking your inferior preference...jk.lol.

chilopirrin2303d ago

when rdr2 came out, it was clear that the x version looks and run way better than the other consoles thanks to true 4k and more stable 30 fps cap, if you have a 4k tv, the xxx is still the better choice right now, fin.

Donnie812303d ago

Plenty of games run at twice the resolution so that seems more than justified.

Rude-ro2303d ago (Edited 2303d ago )

Ehhh the x has been hit performance wise due to the need to outdo in the pixel count on a lot of the third party games.. so you are technically not correct.

Neonridr2303d ago

almost every third party game runs at higher resolutions or a more solid framerate though. So not sure exactly what your comment is trying to imply. It's a more powerful machine so naturally it's going to hit more games at native 4K or locked 60fps.

Rude-ro2303d ago

@neon

No.. on average, the x has lost frames due to the pixels.
Cod as an example.. anthem, etc
Not all, but the PS4 has came out on top per performance due to the less taxing pixel count.

BehindTheRows2303d ago

Or PC, where it will run, and look, even better...... like I plan to do.

Dragonscale2303d ago

Rather get it on Pro thanks.

rainslacker2303d ago

Or...dont worry about it so much and just play it on whatever console you already own

thesoftware7302303d ago

Yes..and the developer who has more horsepower to work with.

Ceaser98573612303d ago (Edited 2303d ago )

Nah! Pro runs the game fine and i am very much okay with that. Why buy X when that system has nothing to offer me. Saved up the cash for PS5. Good for you that you play on X when it comes to 3rd party. Had the games on Pro looked like PS3 compared to what X delivers then i would have made the switch. And also XO19 made me realize that i made a good move by not investing on Xbox.

SolidGamerX2303d ago

And there have been quite a few instances where despite the "horsepower" difference games have run identical on both systems or so minor the difference is negligible at best so don't make guarantees that aren't always guaranteed.

bluebenjamin2301d ago

The base Ps4 vs Ps4pro is the most negligible difference we have ever seen even digital foundry knows this https://youtu.be/7MjZQzdkLI...

SolidGamerX2301d ago

@bluebenjamin

The discussion was about Pro and X please stay on topic.

Mr Marvel2304d ago

Awesome, I can’t wait to play Fallen Order on PS4 this weekend.

Ratchet752303d ago (Edited 2303d ago )

Amazon sent my copy today by mistake and i must say this is the star wars game i have been waiting for. I'm playing it on a pro at higher resolution/30fps with hdr and it's a thing of beauty.
This game is a mash up of some my favorite games{uncharted, darksouls, Gow, force unleashed, metroid)
