Death Stranding: Graphics Comparison - PS4 vs. PS4 Pro

Death Stranding is technically available on two pieces of hardware: PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro. But how do they stack up against each other? Is the Pro filled with sparkly 4K visuals that will blow your mind? Will the standard PS4's fan explode trying to run the game? Who knows.

I'm not really seeing much of a difference, to be honest, I'm impressed with how good the PS4 base version looks

Bwremjoe2385d ago

Yeah that Decima engine is amazing. I was really immersed in HZD, and I'm sure I'll be immersed in DS.

Jimboms2386d ago

Still seeing no difference really.

Brave_Losers_Unite2386d ago

Play one in 4k and one in 1080p and you will see differences like night and day

tontontam02386d ago (Edited 2386d ago )

I don't know if these people just don't own a 4k display or they are simply idiots who are trying to spot the difference on their 1080p monitor.

I played the video on my 4k tv and I definitely see the difference, and the difference is just as expected difference in "RESOLUTION".

Livingthedream2386d ago

YouTube doesn't really do games justice IMO you've gotta have a 4k TV and actually run the games to see how big the difference really is

Neonridr2386d ago

are you watching a compressed youtube video at 1080p?

KillZallthebeast2386d ago

Most people watch youtube videos on their phone so chances are the details are nearly impossible to see there.

rainslacker2385d ago

Just sharper on the PS4P. Gotta watch it at 4K, or at least a larger display.

Texture and lighting wise, some environmental objects look better, but you have to be looking at a still frame to really see it. Characters are really hard to see much difference, and probably won't translate much when in motion. Otherwise, particle effects are a bit better on PS4P, but I doubt it's something most would really recognize unless they're specifically looking for certain things.

Bwremjoe2385d ago

Take a closer look, sometimes you see a blue line move across the screen. Did you spot it? :)

Other than resolution they both look the same, I'm sure there are differences that we dont see with the video provided, game looks good for either to be fair.

Death Stranding looks great on base PS4 and Pro.

I primarily game on Xbox but there's no denying that from a graphics standpoint, the game sets new standards for console visuals.

Looking forward to playing the game on Friday.

Hideo Kojima put Low Roar in Death Stranding because gamers need more culture in their lives

It's important in life to maintain a broad palette when it comes to culture and the arts. Hideo Kojima agrees, as he continues to use video games like Death Stranding to introduce people to music and other elements they might not otherwise discover.

Cool, as long as no one is losing their job while already rich people make more money.

Notellin212d ago

Exactly this right here. Tools should never replace creators.

DarXyde211d ago

I feel that this is the position of every sensible person. However, we face two prominent issues:

1. There are nefarious actors (like Microsoft) who want to prohibit AI regulation. Some US states have some regulations in place, but it's very patchwork at best.

2. Without strict quality control and human review, AI is very likely to hallucinate in embarrassing ways.

TheEroica211d ago

Lol.... People are gonna be losing their jobs...

Travesty212d ago

I’m all in favor for faster developed games.. that’s been the Achilles heel this gen.. taking 5+ years for development. If it can help with building vast landscapes then let it be. A win win if it doesn’t endanger the jobs of current team. They can help in other areas.

Gamersunite880212d ago

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

H9212d ago

I don't doubt kojima that he has good intentions and would use AI without compromising the creative process, but you know for sure other development will say the same and have AI make the whole game for them.

Notellin212d ago (Edited 212d ago )

Yeah and whoever he works for or whatever AI models he chooses to use will train on his data and work to replace Kojima themselves.

I can't imagine any other creator in gaming that demands the salary size of Kojima.

rlow1212d ago

What I wonder about, let’s say five years from now. Will an individual be able to make a triple A title using A.I…If so what would be the need for others? I hate to say it but eventually people will loose their jobs. Because I hear no talk about the ethics of using A.I. among the big companies.
