Uhh yes? What kind of question is that?

RpgSama2391d ago

What good? Who writes these articles? There's nothing good about Microtransactions, I do not believe one bit that they use that money to give us free upgrades and updates to games, destiny and The division sold you the expansions, several of them, fallout 76 it's just trash where they charge you for the color Blue, fortnite adds more contest just to sell it to you, up until not long ago they had just one map, it's all BS to nickel and dime you.

The kind a games journalist asks.

NerdBurglars2391d ago (Edited 2391d ago )

the kinda question people write articles around to get clicks

crazyaejay2391d ago

Microtransactions are like poops on the subway. They make the whole place stink and it's best to try and ignore them.

Tross2391d ago (Edited 2391d ago )

Anyone who poops on the subway and isn't an infant or toddler should have a lifetime ban. Granted, anyone who adds MTs to their games should be shunned by the industry, yet here we are.

crazyaejay2391d ago

Indeed. My analogy works on many poop-based levels.

nowitzki20042391d ago

Whoever poops on the subway is probably living there til they get kicked out

isarai2391d ago

Yes, they overcomplicate progression, make gear management a convoluted mess, and actively make grinding way more time intensive than it needs to be to encourage people to purchase microtransactions. In other words devs are forced to destroy good game design and make something frustrating rather than fun for the sake of greed. I'm sure devs dont like using them either, but publishers want more.

Chocoburger2391d ago (Edited 2391d ago )

THANK YOU!!!! ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!!!
I completed Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey, but Ubisoft simply went too far with all the grind and menu trash. You literally spend HOURS and HOURS inside the game's multitude of menu screens upgrading, crafting, changing out equipment. None of which was required (or desired) in previous games for the series. But now its all been shoe-horned in.

They over complicate the game, without adding actual design or mechanical depth, its just menu complications for the sake of artificially extended the game's length. All these huge open world grind-fest games force you to be a literal trash collector, running around picking up garbage constantly. Wait for it to respawn and then go back and pick up the same garbage in the same location, all to fill an arbitrary quota to upgrade your home base / village / ship / whatever.

Purposely making video games worse, simply to sell you the 'solution' via microtransactions, was the final straw for me. I don't want to waste the hours of my life playing these trash, boring, repetitive, 'live service' games anymore.

Zerobalance2390d ago (Edited 2390d ago )

I have shared exactly the same experience while playing assassin's creed Odyssey. Core gameplay was there to exasperate and to create anger in a player so they would want to buy microtransactions like timesavers and XP boosters. I'm done with Ubisoft and assassin's creed now.

obidanshinobi2391d ago

This.
Modern AAA games are designed from the ground up to incorporate microtransactions.
Milking the consumer of more money is the ultimate goal, not providing fun engrossing gameplay.

esherwood2390d ago

Games are inherently worse when they are designed around mt’s over fun

ZeekQuattro2391d ago

Well they certainly aren't making games better. Lol

Poopmist2391d ago

I like just having cosmetic MT's but free maps. Battlefront 2, Madden, Fifa, And NBA 2K have the types of MT's I have a problem with. I'm fine with how it's handled in Rocket League and Gears.

akurtz2391d ago

Totally ruined Gears 5 in terms of its Gaas model. Very little MP characters and maps to choose from.

Kribwalker2391d ago

agreed. Free maps and dlc but only cosmetic mts is ok with me. Pay to win is a nope

cloganart2390d ago

How dare you want a company to have an income model while providing everything else for free on top of the base price! reeeeeeee

Twitter user @ScudzTV has calculated the real-world cost of creating his own dream eleven, in both hours invested and hard earned cash. He embarked on a seven tweet tirade, illustrating that to achieve this dizzying feat, a person would need to invest either twenty two thousand hours playing, or a poultry £80k ($111k).

ocelot071887d ago

Don't get me wrong. You can get a decent team by just playing. I have done this my self. Buy I agree to even get just one of these icons it's going to take such a grind to the point where even playing at intended is just not fun anymore or spending such a large amount of money.

This does not bode well.

galgor1941d ago
