I would say yes. Like many games in the series, Spawn camping and other camping is an issue. Players hide in the shadows at distance and take you out as soon as you spawn or within a step or two. I have long advocated a 5 second rule where you cannot be killed within the first 5 seconds after you spawn so you have a chance to get to cover.

Hardcore is an absolute nightmare. Once the spawn is pushed ya screwed, you can't push out or anything

TKCMuzzer2380d ago (Edited 2380d ago )

Correct. On Piccadilly once you get pushed back you can be shot pretty much as you spawn. Its amazing in 2019 that game designers can not get the basics right.
Don't get me started on the map with the bridge in the middle, this was surely designed by somebody with no previous gaming experience, I mean you can get sniped pretty much from the bridge whilst spawning. It ruins hardcore and destroys the domination game mode.
Poor game design.

ravens522380d ago

Theres ways around. Have to pick the enemy off whilst flanking them. Smoke grenades too.

lilbrat232381d ago

I wish you could choose to spawn with a teammate like you can in Ground war.

TKCMuzzer2380d ago (Edited 2380d ago )

Ground War is another screw up. It should just be called Sniper TDM. No way to get your team to push an objective, scant reward for taking the objectives. Its like the devs got stuck between COD and Battlefield and have come up with some limbo middle ground where the game mode just does not no what its meant to be.
At least in Battlefield if there are snipers on a roof, you can just remove the roof ;)
Oh, also remove the kill streaks from ground war, there are way to many.

Shapeshifter752381d ago

Agree! Another approach is to possibly limit the number of players that can pick the sniper class. It's abysmal playing modes like ground war where you get nothing but players posted along the outer ridge and standing in the corner of every window. Tanks shouldn't be allowed to access that ridge either. The sightlines just allow them to park and pick off players with little cover to take them out.

nowitzki20042381d ago

Maps are too tiny, I wouldnt even call it camping when you barely have space to yourself

yoshatabi2381d ago

I personally don't have a problem with the camping. But then again I play a lot of military sims. So I'm used to it I guess. When you play so much of those kind of games camping is just the norm

TKCMuzzer2380d ago

I think its the fact they can camp and pretty much shoot people spawning thats the big issue.

3-4-52380d ago

* Slight map layout adjustments can help.

* ALSO..........do people not release, that as a group, they can retreat back to a specific area of the map so spawn camping isn't as big of a factor.

* On Picadilly, you can hide out in the building to the right by scafolding, and even behind where you spawn.

* Trick is to turn the tables on your opponent by retreating as far back as you can, and making them come to you.

* This works great on Picadilly, as they end up having to funnel down one street.....you can then take out the spawn campers as they walk right into your aim.

* Works on Bridge too.....but you have to retreat to certain areas.
* Obviously this works MUCH better on TDM than Dom.

senorfartcushion2380d ago

The game has been designed this way. The three-lane system has been replaced by a capture-and-whole system. Yes, you are meant to camp.

So kill them from far away.

Muzikguy2381d ago

That's what I was thinking. All COD games I've played had the issues with camping. Haven't played any in years but it's something I don't see changing

TKCMuzzer2380d ago

Maybe but in the other CODS if you got camped in the game would flip the spawns to keep the game moving, this one does not, it just keeps spawning you in the same place. The amount of times I have been spawned under a Kill streak as players place them on the spawns is an effing joke. The fact that devs make these basic design errors with all their experience should be questioned.

BillyG0AT2381d ago

they should make a game mode where you can't stay still for over 3 seconds. no snipers, too.

Latex742381d ago

I like this idea please let them do this ha ha

2pacalypsenow2381d ago (Edited 2381d ago )

Also no smg’s, assault rifles, pistols and shotguns.

JeffGUNZ2380d ago

Correction. No M4. I die by two things in this game. M4 and 725 shotgun which is apparently a sniper rifle.

2pacalypsenow2380d ago

Let remove anything that kills people in the game.

2380d ago
nowitzki20042381d ago

Just strafe left and right in place

JeffGUNZ2380d ago

The one game mode where people actually try to play the objective is Kill Confirmed since they get more credit for kills when you collect the dog tag. Yet, this mode has not been activated yet outside of private matches. I really think we are in a social experiment on how much misery we can sustain with this game till they finally just say "J/K, giggles, here's the real game"

Cod always had campers. I like the new cod and what infinity ward is doing. There will always be campers, just have to play a little more strategic. And i still run and gun... just not around corners and watch the windows

frostypants2381d ago (Edited 2381d ago )

You can't strategize your way out of being spawn camped. It's bad game design, straight up. It was tolerable in the first CoD 16 years ago but there's no excuse for it these days.

ravens522381d ago

That i agree with they need to fix the spawning. I enconter a few campers here and there especially on domination but idk i mean isnt the point of this game not to die and get as many kills as possible. If camping is your way of doing that im not even mad. Thats y they have the heart beat sensor as a tactical now, also the snapshot grenade.

ravens522381d ago

They also let u change your items on the fly. So if u do have campers u can adjust

Rude-ro2381d ago

True.. but the campers did not dominate..

Mw, camper are dominating.
Clay mores have to have the most kills in the game outside of any weapon.

JeffGUNZ2380d ago

Ready to give you chills?
MW Loadout: M4+725 Shotgun+Ghost+Stun/Flash+Claym ore
I've seen bigfoot more then I have seen other loadouts that have killed me.

2pacalypsenow2380d ago

Its about time claymores actually work imo

JeffGUNZ2380d ago

How do you adjust to campers? There is nothing in place to stop it. Your footsteps are so loud that a camper can hear exactly where you are coming from then mount to a wall corner, ADS, then light you up before you even make it in the area. If a camper kills you then moves to another area, you're screwed because if you flash where you died, they arent there so they get zero effects from the flash or stun. Sure, there is dead silent which works for 10 seconds then is on a long cooldown. Red dot not showing up on the minimap when they fire also gives you zero idea where they have moved to. Hey, let me call in a UAV to spot them, oh wait, they are using ghost. Cool, they have ammo resupply so now they have TWO claymores!! they haved eliminated the playstyle of what makes a lot of people love this game, the run and gun twitch based reflex shooter.

Dont all call of duty games have a camping problem lol

Only nine franchises make up the top 20 all-time best-selling PlayStation chart in the US

This is a great reminder of how game sales have become more concentrated in a smaller number of games/series over time. In the PS1/PS2 era a game was a success if it sold a million or a few million copies. The GTA games (3/Vice City/San Andreas) were pretty big outliers in selling as much as they did during the PS2 era. So in the minds of a lot of gamers something like FF VII feels like it was as big of a PS1 game as God of War 2018 was for PS4, but in reality far fewer people bought it (though it has obviously reached additional people through remasters, etc.).

StoneTitan237d ago

this was alwalys the case and will always be the case. with everything

237d ago
Zerobalance237d ago (Edited 237d ago )

What this says to me is, not many people are buying a PS to play PS exclusives. Like so many false narratives, like Xbox gamers don't buy games! It seems Playstation as a default system is a vanilla system to play call of duty, Minecraft, GTA games and a sports games.

badz149237d ago (Edited 237d ago )

if you look back into the PS history, it has always been the 3rd parties who sells the most games. it was just that the PS1 and PS2 were so dominant that many of those 3rd party games were exclusives. so, back during the PS1 and PS2 days, the strategy was "to sell as many consoles as possible in order to sell more 1st party exclusives" to ride on that wave. The strategy to push many 1st party exclusives to sell consoles only started with the PS3 when many of those prior 3rd party exclusives went multiplat but more accurately, it started with the PSP.

Sony saw with the PSP, which was being trounced in sales by the DS, that 3rd party exclusives are hard to come by if you're not dominating the market. So they started building more 1st party games and when the PS3 were facing difficulties in sales, they knew they had to rely on their own to differentiate the PS3 from the 360. So the strategy back then changed to "release more 1st party exclusives in order to sell more consoles".

the only manufacturer that is still consistently selling their hardware to play 1st party exclusives, is Nintendo, and that was because they gave up the armrace for power thus they can't rely on 3rd parties anymore as all multiplats play better on competing consoles. AND that's also why they are the most ominous in going after emulators and also patent trolling!

so, you're not wrong there, but not an "aha!" moment or anything. it has been this way since the last, at least, 15 years for Playstation.

Deathdeliverer236d ago

@zerobalance

So... what this tells you is that Call of duty, being the absolute check writer that it is, has been outsold by Last of us, God of war, 2 Spider man games..... Saying Playstation exclusives doesn't sell is like saying call of duty doesn't sell because they have outsold some of iterations. Does that make sense to you?

Will be interesting to see what sort of numbers GP users draw in come tomorrow. It is believed that this is one many have been waiting for.

652d ago
thesoftware730651d ago

Darth,

That is not accurate; this game is old, and most people who want it have already bought it. You might get a small number of subs, but we will mostly see a good influx of players(not new subs) from people with Game Pass who will try it, which is what happened with D4.

CoD: BO 6 will be the test for actual sub numbers.

darthv72651d ago

That's fair... seeing as many have been saying they want CoD in GP. My comment was more of , now that its here... what can it do. Im sure there will be other titles in the franchise that will either entice or turn off different users.

Bathyj651d ago

No one's buying a console and signing up for a monthly bill just to get this game to avoid buying it. That's ridiculous. Besides everyone bagged the crap out of this on release for the 4 hour campaign.

andy85651d ago

Sweet. Never got round to it on release. I'll give the campaign a go

chicken_in_the_corn651d ago

Severly underrated game. Big improvement over 2.

Why MW 2019 is still the best looking Call of Duty to date

MW 2019 is five years old at this point and on previous gen hardware, but it is still the best looking Call of Duty game to date.

MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.

That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.

I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.
