One of the founders of the Hotline Miami publisher talks about the potential problem with subscription services.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

All available May 5.
I think the only game here for me is Nine Sols. Was always interested in that game.
Good month for me, I wanted that particular footy game and thought it might be due. Anyway who cares, shame about the site I'll miss the comment sections. All the best everyone.
I think you mean PlayStation Now.
Not sure why Devolver is worried by subscription services for platforms that they're not even bothered releasing most of their games on anymore. Katana Zero, Ape Out, My Friend Pedro and Gris never came to PS4 and XB1.
If it's not going to get buried on GamePass, it's going to otherwise get buried on the game store itself.
It's not like games going to GamePass are only available via such things. There is still marketing behind the release of those games, right?
This seems like a weak argument considering they get buried as it is.
Not really sure what the point is. I've been using GamePass and Apple Arcade for a while now, and if anything, the subscriptions exposed me to trying more games I wouldn't normally risk spending money on to try.
As for prominence? The 2 services I've been using are almost identical in layout and functionality to how the game market places are for non-subscription services. in fact nearly identical. GamePass for example is broken into very similar categories as the store: New releases, Top played etc and they're in a big grid with artwork and you scroll. Not really sure how that reduces visibility. In my opinion it gives devs more exposure b/c of less risk. This is even evidenced by MS' own data that says gamers are trying more titles out of their comfort zones.
There have been days where I would literally download like 4 games from GamePass and try each one, and then delete the ones I wasn't feeling. I'd never just buy 4 games at retail, and I certainly wouldn't buy a game I knew very little about, even if I was curious.Subscriptions can act as risk free, full game demos and that gives gamers more exposure to titles than they would have gotten in a riskier retail scenario.
Also - you can purchase games out of GamePass for a discounted price, so that means each game featured in a subscription plan means it technically gets featured for sale in 2 digital storefronts instead of one per ecosystem. People just fear change.
Also - It's PS Now, not Plus.
