The Outer Worlds Review - Obsidian Never Changes [Wccftech]

The Outer Worlds is pretty much exactly what you'd expect from Obsidian. The first-person action RPG features a great setting, fantastic writing and remarkable, complex characters to meet. The moment-to-moment gameplay isn't as exciting, though, failing to measure up with the best in the genre. Still, there's plenty to like here as long as you know what you're getting into, not to mention the potential to do much better in a sequel, particularly if the developers had a higher budget to work with.

Been looking forward to this one

ilikestuff2394d ago

It looks good, I just prefer third person way more than first, wish they had put that option in.

IamTylerDurden12394d ago (Edited 2394d ago )

It is a drag that 3rd person isn't an option, also that the game is smaller and more limited than Fallout. It's unfortunate that you can not control your ship and that it's used primarily as a hub for fast travel ala Destiny. The game looks pretty good, not very original, not the prettiest thing, but Obsidian is a skilled veteran team that makes quality software. With Control, Children of Morta, BL3, Concrete Genie, MediEvil, Death Stranding, and even Star Wars all coming out i will likely wait for black friday in hopes to snag it under $25.

@IamTylerDurden1

Just get a trial of gamepass and you’ll spend just a few bucks

I've like the Korean humorous trailers. Always like games that dont take things too seriously

rainslacker2393d ago

Not sure how the Korean got in there. Autocorrect hasn't been kind to me today.

KaiPow2394d ago

The stealth system sounds like a letdown.

Thundercat772394d ago (Edited 2394d ago )

Sounds like I am going to get this one when is down to $20.

Must of missed all the 9’s and good praising of the game

SamPao2393d ago

you dont have to convince other people to buy the game man, if somebody wants to wait, let him wait.

metalgod882393d ago

@pwnmaster3000

Did you play it? If so, explain what makes the game so great and worth an immediate buy. If you havent played it, dont trust early reviews. You do realize the big review sites are compromised right?

Check out ACG on YouTube. I always wait to see what they say.

Dragonscale2393d ago

Maybe it just doesn't appeal to him.

"Must of missed all the 9’s and good praising of the game"

If you pay attention, you´ll only find some users on articles that reflects lower scores for this game. Lol!

Looks like a smaller Fallout NV in space.

TargusX2394d ago

Looks garbage, Shame. No orginality these days with developers.

MadLad2393d ago

Oh yes. Because quality open-world RPGs with solid writing, deep character development, and loads of player agency literally come out every week...

warriorcase2393d ago

From all the big praise/reviews it seems to be getting and no user reviews at the moment, this is an odd take.

The Outer Worlds Could Fill a Unique Niche By Going the Opposite Direction as Avowed

The Outer Worlds could distinguish itself from other Obsidian IPs by going in the opposite direction as Avowed and the Pillars of Eternity series.
