Yesterday Jim Ryan, CEO and President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, confirmed the release window of the Playstation 5 as holiday 2020. At the same time, Playstation 5 System Architect, Mark Cerny, talked with WIRED about the hardware in the new console, and the new controller. The article covered the many different aspects of the controller, and how it can deepen the immersion of the player, but my concern is that developers won't take advantage of these new features, because they didn't for the Playstation 4.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

TG writes: If you’ve ever wanted that chaotic, large-scale modern warfare feeling from Battlefield but in full VR immersion, Forefront delivers it better than anything else currently available on Quest.
"In the WIRED article it is discussed how the rumble motors are gone from the Playstation 5’s controller instead Sony has opted to use voice-coil actuators,"
Very, very curious about this. Sounds really cool but it may end up as useless as the touchpad was. I really hope devs do take advantage of every feature especially for the triple A games from the big developers.
GG is going hard at work on a certain game that centres around the use of Bow & Arrow/Crossbow, that will blow people away - like the first game did.
What about devs using the haptic feature on the trigger buttons to simulate various guns.
Rumble is old and has had its day, I still use it - but an evolution of that concept is welcomed.
Hopefully devs will. Microsoft’s rumble triggers are underused in current games.
Hopefully both Microsoft and Sony use similar tech so that devs will be forced to implement it due to the install base of both combined
I expect alot of launch window games to force it into the gameplay as far haptic feedback and triggers go. But as we move along the gen I'm sure we will get some crazy innovative uses out of it
I just hope they're reliable. The resistant triggers scares me as far as durability goes. And a replacement is probably gonna be at least $70-80 this gen
