.... when playing in the beta, i was on one of the bridges looking over across the map at other bridges which were in the distance and had the helghan enemies on it. The fact that the only thing you could identify as the enemy was the red eyes of the helgan helmets through the misty air was a great feature. Its a visually pleasing game, thats for sure. My only complaint at the moment in the beta is the lack of variety in the maps. Im sure there will be more upon release. The look and feel of the game though is top notch, the release can not come soon enough.

way better than cod4, mgs4, gears 2, and anything ever released on a console.. this game looks freaking unreal.. I will be running around the maps just looking at how great the game looks for a couple of hours.. everything about this game looks above the rest. animation, physics, graphics, gameplay, and ahhhhh i want this game now.. where is my beta key..

I love the game. Ive been playing the beta for a few nights and enjoy it. Just sometimes with the colors you cant really tell if you are hitting the person youre shooting at all the time but it could just be me. I'm not the greatest FPS type. I just enjoy playing. I die more than i kill. lol!

my only question is this:

"why are we seeing explosions,sounds,animation,li ghting,destruction,etc.,like this in ps3's second year and NOT seeing this in 360's third year?do we have to wait for 360's fourth year to see what ps3 is doing in two?

and this is only MULTIPLAYER.

games like killzone2,MGS4,GT5 and uncharted show that there is a clear difference in game development.if third parties haven't reached this with multiplatform games and exclusive devs haven't reached this on 360 alone,even with 360 development being EASY.......

what does that tell you about which system is more powerful?

gears should be doing this or better being that it hides low poly builds with high res textures.unless all that power is wasted on textures.or UE3 is not powerful enough.or the devs not good enough.

funny still is that killzone2 is doing it with more players onscreen.which is TYPICAL of a ps3 game......doing more with more objects onscreen.

1. Its on the ps3 (didn't know that was a negative until I read Kotaku's article on why Bioshocks DLC was bad)
2. 6 axis Sniper Controls (Wait 6 axis, didn't LAIR use that?!@?! I dont want to move while I game, but playing Wii games as well as You're in the Movies and Lips will is perfectly fine.
3. Short Single Player(Although im sure it will be longer than KZ1, KZ2 will be nailed for having a short Single player, and the story will be criticized as if it were written to rival citizen cane, you know a great tale like some generi-space-marine adventure #434. But those are amazing tales of heroism, the problem appears to be when the story is told through a ps3.
4. Online ( Wait, wait wait.. was that.. .002 seconds of lag?!?!?! PSN IS A FAILURE, forget all of the innovations and improvements in online gaming Kz2 will bring as well as 32 player servers and mixable classes, who cares when there is a nano second of lag on the ps3. Lag on other consoles is perfectly fine, and in some cases host advantage is perfectly fine.. but Sony Promised 4d and the Cell. The cell is perfect, lag is not perfect.
5. Color ( all of the color theoristy/part time game reviewers will come out of the woodwork to pretend that they know what color harmonies and values are, yet pretend to have no clue of Art\Set Design. Just as in hollywood, some movies are vibrant colors, others aren't, and hell even some are hue'd Green like The Matrix. This will be yet another problem for the PS3 though, some how people equate the lack of Uncharted like color palletes, to some sort of lack in hardware capacity? I guess, never really understood this one considering some of the older popular, and current popular games are all very muted when it comes to vibrant warm & cool colors.)

6. The Game Isn't CGI. ( PR representatives said Killzone2's CGI target render was realtime ps3 graphics. Even though its been cleared up since then, and now in the year 2008 Gurilla Games is bringing the best looking console graphics a gamer has ever seen on the consoles, KZ2 will still be flopped for not being CGI, silly. I know, but just do a quick search to see media outlets still doing comparisons.

7. Gameplay ( The PS3 isn't allowed to make first person games that follow the universal first person guide since inception of first person gaming. Questions will be brought up about innovation, dont worry logically you would just say "Well look at the multiplayer" But no, no.. The FPS game on a PS3 has to fire on all cylinders, that includes the best single player fps ever made dripping with innovation, or else it will suffer a 70-80% average due to the fact that it didn't improve on the FPS. NOw I know, other games haven't but we aren't talking about other games, we are talking about the PS3. Kz2 should have been a multi dimensonal first person / 5th person RPG that runs based on your real life choices. But even then, im sure it would get pegged for not being JUST like COD4.)

this is the best game i've seen on a console, i've played it and it is way better than c.o.d 4 in everyway. we might not see another fps or shooter this good again until ps3 decides to make one or when killzone 3 comes out. nothing compares to killzone 2 and anyone that have played the beta knows what i'm talking about, the attention to detail is amazing and the visuals are jaw droppingly realistic. the animation in this game makes my home family videos look like its fake.ps3 is the future and the future is ps3.

i'm a beta tester also. whoever played in this video is lagging real bad. it only takes a few round to kill an enemy

Hmm....looks good, but not as good as some people make it out to be. Lighting and environmental destruction looks great. A lot of nice post processing effects going on. Many of the textures, however, seem to be pretty low resolution. You can see how flat many of them look whenever players get close to objects/walls, such as when climbing the red ladders. Some of the textures look nice, but many look pretty flat, similar to what we saw in MGS4. I also noticed some fairly significant texture pop-in at 1:30 minute mark in the 3rd video. There seemed to be quite a few instances of screen tear as well.

I'm not trying to cut it down, I just don't like when people get ahead of themselves and start hyping something beyond the reality of what is there. Killzone 2 is no doubt one of the best looking games we have seen on consoles, but it isn't flawless. And it should be pointed out that while it looks really great in some areas, there are other areas where other games have done better. Killzone 2 has great real-time lighting and a nice clean look about it, not unlike Mirror's Edge.

I'm as glad as you lot are that the ps3 is really starting to show its braun, but the comparisons to the 360 about it not being as powerful annoys me and it makes you lot look like paranoid freaks that need constant reasurance that their console is going to beat the other to stay sane.

I think I will wait until a price cut before I get a PS3.

Sony really does need another mainline shooter franchise. They pretty much gave up after the PS3 generation, and I'm really surprised they haven't tried at another high-profile, singleplayer-centric shooter; even if it weren't Killzone or Resistance.

I miss Killzone while I can see why they still do Horizon has some really good things but I do think that Horizon is overrated imo.

Or how about studios focus on projects that they feel passionate about, and not be forced to make something they have little interest in. It shows in the final product.

It’s still got potential for the modern era. The DNA is all there. The install base is there. The interest is there. The time is now.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.

Killzone game after Killzone 2 play style would be nice

Sorry bud, but the PS3 generation was amazing and featured the greatest console comeback in history.

That said, I'd love it if Warhawk returned or Metal Gear Solid 4. It needs to not be shackled to the PS3 generation anymore. A Killzone 2 remake would be insane with modern graphics and that art direction.

I really miss this gen of gaming. It felt like the last truly "great" era for videogames before the modern approach really took hold.

The PS3 was such a glorious console. The UI, the games, the free online...just incredible.

I would pay good money for a Warhawk remake. Socom too. The last Socom game just didn’t do it justice. Folklore could use a remaster or remake as well.
Several other titles I would like to remade with the amount of visual fidelity the current gen has over the past consoles it could help articulate the games that we’ve loved growing up. I would love even some ps2 titles to remade.. Dark Cloud from ps2, Legacy of Kain series but don’t know what will come of it sense it was bought by Embracer group and all there layoffs.

This strategy is exactly what helped ruin Xbox. Sony more than Microsoft know when to let a franchise go and that is important to keep things fresh. The old games are there if you want to play them.

FF13 is top of this list for me. No matter your opinion on it, it being the only numbered offline FF out of all 16 not to be on new consoles is odd. GTA IV would be great too

The only reason my PS3 is still connected is because of the Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm games that I still love to play. I am for remaking or remastering them.

I was never a huge fan of Killzone, but thoroughly enjoy Horizon. Guerrilla are superb developer and easily up there with the best of the best.

Need a killzone 2 remake from the ground up.

Great studio, loved the Killzone series, I wish they would do a remake of the first three games. Horizon is a real step up and truly put Guerrilla Games on the map.

Too bad I never got a chance to play Shellshock: Nam’67 would have loved to try that game out back in the days to see what were their beginnings.

It would fantastic to see what they could do in Killzone after the lessons learned through Horizon.

Or heck, give us even a short linear FPS from the people who designed Cauldron THETA in the Burning Shores expansion. Even just flying into it (after gliding around and finding its opening amongst the lava and Sunwings perched around it, with other bigger machines just along the path toward it) was an incredible experience.

Forbidden West is awesome, It’s pretty damn big compared to Zero Dawn and it takes a little while to get your skills up and get the equipment you need to fully explore the game (not going to spoil it) but once you do those things and start fighting the big ass machines it really is amazing. Some cool side quests to where you hold the fate of peoples lives by your choice and the cauldrons look amazing. Lots of skills , combos, special moves and add ons for your weapons so you can approach fights many ways. Looking forward to the name game but I wonder how/if Silas will be a part of it or not ? Sad he’s gone.
