Huh..?! Someone say Alan Wake? Give me all your weird Remedy! Maybe this can serve as a portal to a new AW? Anything new AW is awesome.

Clover9042352d ago

If you're an Alan Wake fan, for sure, play Control. Builds on the world of Alan Wake.

gamer78042352d ago

I wasnt very excited for control but when I heard its intertwined with AW somehow I'm sold. Waiting for the photo mode patch.

DarkOcelet2352d ago

Oh shit! I cant wait for this then. Now if they can make a tease for Quantum Break in there, that would be awesome.

AK912352d ago

IIRC Quantum Break IP is still owned by MS, Remedy only managed to get Alan Wake back.

DarkOcelet2351d ago

Yea i know, but since MS doesnt seem to be doing anything with QB, they should just give the rights to QB to Remedy.

Spurg2352d ago

Alan Wake is very much part of Control. There is a note in the game that mentions the incident of the Bright fall as an Altered world event.
Unfortunately, Control has a great world but a mediocre story.

milohighclub2352d ago

I thought the story was great, the acting not so much.

Summons752352d ago

The story was fine and fun. It wasn't trying to be anything more than what it was and that's perfectly okay.

warriorcase2352d ago

There's about 5 notes and even goes into current AW. I personally loved Control from start to finish.

Clover9042352d ago

I loved Control, and I absolutely loved Alan Wake. Fun fact, Darling actor from Control is also the voice actor for Alan Wake.

-Foxtrot2352d ago

Which is even better when you realise it's actually him singing Dyna-mite

veicht2352d ago

And perhaps slightly more obviously, Trench is voiced by James McCaffrey (Max Payne).

warriorcase2352d ago

I think everyone would of spotted that voice. That voice is iconic and unique. Love Remedy.

AK912352d ago

There are plenty of previous actors from Remedy's past games in Control such as:

- Jesse's actor played Beth Wilder in Quantum Break
- Trench's actor played Max Payne in Max Payne and Thomas Zane in Alan Wake
- Dylan's actor played Nick Masters in Quantum Break

The only one missing is Jack Joyce's (main protag of Quantum Break) for this game but he most likely busy with Man of Medan.

-Foxtrot2352d ago

That's awesome to hear

*Spoilers*

I hope they still let Alan Wake have some of it's own story, it was awesome to see the The Clicker and Typewriter may have been Objects of Power causing Altered World Events but I'm hoping the deal with the darkness is that they have their own mythos and come from a completely different world from the Hiss. I'd like to see them becoming a bigger threat then them.

Report: New Trademark for "Control: Resonant" Unearthed, Ahead of TGA

New evidence suggests a Control reveal is imminent. A trademark discovery ahead of The Game Awards hints at big news for Remedy's franchise.

Storm2382d ago

Control was really good. There was a ton of backtracking and running through the building from one end to the other a ton of times, but otherwise I loved it. Can't wait to see the sequel.

medman81d ago

Yeah it was awesome....looking forward to this reveal

REDGUM82d ago

I really enjoyed Control though without the mini map i found myself lost and or unsure of what to do too often and gave in on the game about 30% in.
Ive just re-downloaded it with the latest update with the enhanced graphics but unaure I'll dig back into it agaith with my current backlog.
Looking forward to seeing whats next from Remedy though.

toxic-inferno81d ago

I know exactly what you mean. I've played the game through twice and have had the same issue both times.

What I found on my latest playthrough was that the best way to navigate is to use the physical signs in-game as well as the map.

How the Remedy Connected Universe does the multiverse right

ScribbleCat said: Media is certainly no stranger to connecting all their properties together. Comic books have been doing this for generations, and TV is also known for special crossover episodes, which confirm the notion that they take place in the same fictional world. Video games, which can be barely called a new medium at this point, also have some interesting overlaps with connecting different games. For example, Valve’s Portal and Half-Life show how subtle hints can give players more theories to chew on. Old classics like DOOM and Wolfenstein also share similarities. But my favorite connection between games is the Remedy Connected Universe. While only a connection between Alan Wake and Control have been confirmed, there is SO much more to explore with Remedy’s crazy take on this old formula. And, according to Sam Lake, this is only the beginning.

SimpleSlave241d ago

They really should release the full Quantum Break experience on the PS5. Sure, it's a middle-of-the-road third-person shooter and a perfect example of self-indulgence, but why not? It was fun in short burst and it completes the Remedy set until Max Payne 1+2 Remakes get released later on.

Do it, Microsawft. Don't be cowards.

eh?
They better not mess much with the Max Payne Remake(s)

Yui_Suzumiya456d ago

Yeah but this was announced before the Max Payne Remake after all

LucasRuinedChildhood455d ago (Edited 455d ago )

What does "unlocking some previously released content" actually mean though? I would imagine it should be "previously unreleased content". Bit odd.

DaReapa455d ago

Right. Especially since the Ultimate Edition supposedly contained everything.

raWfodog456d ago

I only played about an hour of Control when I added it to my library back when it was one of the PS+ ‘free’ games. I’ll start it over again after the early 2025 update is dropped. I keep hearing that it’s a good game.

jznrpg455d ago

You can make that statement for any game. It’s called gameplay loop. Not everyone is going to enjoy the same loops but all games are repetitive by nature

RedDevils455d ago

Agree it was very boring game. Could not get into it. Remember me the game I played on PS3 is still better than this.

Chocoburger456d ago

These days "RPG" translates to constantly grinding for experience points, wasting time upgrading gear, and repeatedly collecting resources off the ground.

Please don't be an Ubishit style filler game.

Yui_Suzumiya456d ago

Hopefully it'll be more like Mass Effect

Amplitude455d ago (Edited 455d ago )

Remedy doesn't really make mistakes. It'll be good, I'm sure.

Inverno456d ago

So in other words it's an action game needlessly fluffed out with RPG mechanics and a pointless leveling system. I really enjoy RPGs when they're actually RPGs but modern action games really tire me out when they shoehorn in mechanics they don't need. All this does is make a 20 hour game into a 40 hour game because missions become locked behind level requirements, and enemies become damage sponges. It's not fun, it's tedious.
