Sounds like they might be remastering it themselves.

Rachel_Alucard2451d ago

They would've done one, 8 years ago if they could. They can't even rerelease it on current gen with how poorly coded it is.

neutralgamer19922451d ago

Rachel

If rumors are correct than they are remastering it and releasing it next year

Rachel_Alucard2451d ago

We've had rumors like that for years. Take 2 didn't shut down that project because they had one already being made, but because they are very aggressive against modding, brand image, etc similar to Nintendo.

Orionsangel2450d ago

The closest we got to a RDR remaster was the backwards compatible version on Xbox One X.

@ Rachel
I OBJECT!
The person on NeoGAF did not say it cannot release. He said it takes more work than an average port.
They need to get it working on RAGE 3 first, then port it to PC.
The whole "coded mess" thing is a misconception that got spread around. It is possible to remaster it.

Rachel_Alucard2450d ago (Edited 2450d ago )

@tehpees

Again I've heard rumors about this thing for years. Different people all come in claiming to be valid sources of info and then nothing happens. It may have been attempted a few times but nothings come up because of it.

There was a lawsuit a few years ago by Leslie Benzies (Lead Designer for GTA, RDR) to Rockstar that brought in some evidence suggestion the game was a developmental nightmare a year prior to it's release. That is probably where the messy code claims come from, on top of design issues and how bug ridden the game was the first few months.

There was another old Asked and Answered article on R*'s website where they answered fan questions.

They said, "There is just one title absent from our PC release plans – that game of course being Red Dead Redemption, and of course we’re well aware that some fans have been asking for it. All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) – we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms."

Meanwhile L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, and GTA5 all ended up on PC. There's no way you make PC releases for all of your games then suddenly decide one of your most successful titles should stay on last gen, unless there's a huge technical mess you're dealing with. I blame that lead designer no longer being on the project since he was the only one who could run the show correctly according to the Houser brothers own mouths.

Nah they’re busy doing the PC port of red dead 2. Along with ps5 and xb2 versions.

Dislikes from console clowns

Kingdroopy20182451d ago

LOl damn all those dislikes from Console fanboys

TengHu2450d ago

It's funny we're getting all these dislikes from console fanboys but I'm a console gamer (PS4) as well.

autobotdan2451d ago (Edited 2451d ago )

There already is a Remaster on Xbox One X. Fans and/or Take-Two didn't have to do any work remastering. Microsoft already remastered it

Soybetaboy2451d ago

Xbox x is a BEAST of a console

Hungryalpaca2450d ago

A resolution bump is a remaster now?

autobotdan2450d ago

Yes it is. A remaster is exactly the same game and graphics just a resolution bump. A remake is adding in new stuff that wasn't in the original game and redoing the entire game engine

lelo2play2451d ago

Everybody knew this was going to happen. Announcing they are going to remaster Red Dead Redemption, it's obvious the modders were going to be contacted by Take-Two or Rockstar to halt the project.

Cobra9512451d ago

Yes. They don't learn. Don't announce. Release when done. Nothing can be stopped once it's released.

SubZtx2451d ago

That is what I said when I heard about them making it on PC Gamer "what kinda dumbass announces this before releasing it into the wild?"

phoenixwing2451d ago (Edited 2451d ago )

@sub
the reason they might do that is they hope someone sees the project and hires them outright after seeing how well they do.

Red Dead Redemption Hits 3.3 Million Netflix Downloads on Mobile

Red Dead Redemption hits 3.3 million Netflix downloads on mobile, underscoring how subscription access drives reach over paid sales.

More like people don't play these type of games on their phone normally and don't try them out. Not like the places where people do play these games haven't crushed those numbers easily.

How many people actually played more than an hour of the game or came close to finishing it on mobile is the real question. If people aren't playing the games to a point that is purposeful, then why try when a subscription that is behind a streaming service isn't a sign of success but just curiosity.

What if Netflix becomes ‘the Netflix of gaming?!’

Alek83131d ago

I downloaded it because I already have a Netflix sub.
I am not going to buy it for $40 or whatever it costs on Google Play.

I tried it out and will be sticking to the PC version, but it's not bad.

Having said that, this is the issues I see vs the PC version:
1. Greatly reduced texture resolution.
2. Massive downgrade ALL lighting quality (this includes water, shadows, etc).
3. Stutter and heat. Prolonged play leads to both.
On the plus side, we have:
4. This thing is like 6GB vs the 12 on Steam.

Great way to try the game, but not the best way to play it.

darthv72133d ago

Perhaps Netflix will make a RDR series now that ST is done with.

Lionsguard132d ago

A Netflix version of RDR?... Oh boy... I can't wait... /s

TheColbertinator132d ago

They should build a production that includes members behind the True Grit remake and Hell on Wheels from AMC. Both were perfect for wild west vibes.

gold_drake132d ago

but i doubt people ACTUALLY played it on smartphone vs tried it out.

Another free update...good to know but I don't own a series X

Petebloodyonion165d ago

I’m not sure what the exact issue is. I had no trouble getting the free update—you basically get the new game for free if you have the 360 version in your digital library. Maybe the problem is related to owning or not owning the Undead DLC expansion.

Hypertension140165d ago (Edited 165d ago )

Yea I think thats what it is. I also own the game but not the expansion, and im unable to download the update.
