You can graphically compare the environments to uncharteds and the vehicles graphics to wipeout and pure. The particle effects from the dirt, mud, water, lava, and fire are the best Ive seen in any game to date. I dont understand how anyone could give this game under a 9/10 in the graphics department? I just think that most people who reviewed this game can't stand the fact that the ps3 has the best looking and most fun racer this gen. They are just too in love with their 360s to give this game the credit it deserves. Such a pity.

But wasn't there alot of murmurs around E32005 that the Motorstorm and KillZone 2 video were actually in-game? I think this is what caused the controversy. Not the actual videos, but the heavy speculation fuelled by certain camps that they were in-game. Ofcourse when the gameplay footage was shown, people hit out it.

Sony realised that KillZone 2 had the bigger expectation and I remember Phil Harrison saying he rejected chances to show the game to the public before it hit, or came close, to that target because he knew the amount of hype surrounding the visuals.

At the end of the day, the Motorstorm franchise has proved itself when it comes to visuals. It looks stunning. The Sony PS3 has proved itself when it comes to graphics - GT5P, Uncharted and KillZone 2 stand out in my mind. Brush the hate off your shoulders Evolution

they did that with KZ2 though it was a big gg fault as well,cuz they accually said that "it was ingame visuals" .. so that went on for a while.
but i never heard anything abour the motorstorm 2 one really... just waited for its release and BAM!!,the game is efing amazing in EVERY aspect possible.

and for me personally...... i think that Heavy rain is the one game that almost (if allready does) look EXACTLY like the pre-rendered casting call back in 07.
then it would be KZ2 and next will be GoW3. :)

Simple solution: Label your "test render" as "test render" when you show it to people.

People aren't disappointed because they used pre-rendered visuals, they are disappointed because it was used to mislead.

No issue if you say it is or is NOT in game footage.
No biggie...just state what it is or is not

I fell in love with Motorstorm's target video, I knew it wasn't a working build of the game. Each crash was well scripted and the the overall video didn't look like a video game. I figured though, if a developer is shooting for anything remotely close to that video, they deserve the hype. Same goes for Killzone 2, which has undoubtedly surpassed it's target render.

The first Motorstorm was ridiculously good looking at the time, and the races were pretty action packed. I have to say though, Motorstorm Pacific Rift is nothing like the first game. They opened up the color range, so your getting deep blues, lush greens, dirty mud, and red hot flames all vibrantly blushing from your screen. The custom soundtracks were a nice touch, the tracks can be scorching fast, claustrophobic, wide open, all with multiple paths and many spots to crash opponents.

I took some in game pictures, and if you think they look good now, you haven't seen anything. The game is mesmerizing in motion.
