We Need More Twisted Metal

Jacob St-Amour from Link-Cable Writes: "It has been more than seven years since our last chaotic journey through the world of the Twisted Metal universe and I for one am tired of waiting. The explosions, the dark, twisted sense of humor and chaotic theme of the demolition derby has long been missed and it really is time for Sony to get back to this series and to deliver one more wild adventure for fans to enjoy. This franchise has been one of the most asked for to be revived, and it would be the perfect time to do so by capping off the PlayStation 4 era with one more amazing, untamed and bombastic joyride in the world of Twisted Metal."

Damn right we need more Twisted Metal. Its the reason I bought a PS4 to begin with. If Nintendo can stay faithful to its Mario/Zelda fanbase for all these years then Sony can show some love for its old school fans in the same manner.

Skuletor2475d ago

Not a fan of battle royale games but a Twisted Metal BR could be awesome. I'm just not sure the last game sold well enough for Sony to justify funding a new entry

gangsta_red2475d ago

Doesn't even need to be a BR, just make it an arena shooter type game set in different city maps. I would be down for that.

Skuletor2475d ago

Good point, with BR they usually get lazy and only make one map

Tesal2475d ago

wW need a remake full of all characters " from all of TW games" with their each unique stories 'n the Villain of TW2.

Add as many modes as they can including a battle-royal mode + arena modes " who not . something extra not as a main focus of the game"

Add creative mode as well to make own maps etc with many assets from all titles of possible.

OnlyThoseOnTheFence2475d ago

That's a weird way to spell "Vigilante-8"

NapalmSanctuary2474d ago

Thats a great one that needs to come back too.

BlackIceJoe2474d ago

I think we need more vehicle destruction games in general, be it this or a new Blood Wake.

Wow cyberpunk is a great pick up. If you haven’t played it you should definitely give it a try

Christopher312d ago

Banishers was dragged down by the need to go back to old areas multiple times.

GhostScholar313d ago

Also if you bought it at launch and couldn’t deal with all the bugs it’s a totally different game now

stupidusername312d ago

Played it on release and thought it was a mess. But I'm currently playing it again now on both PS5 and Switch 2 with cross save progression, and it's really different to how I remember it. Really enjoying it now, and it's really polished and immersive.

Despite owning the 2077 One X console and the steelbook edition of the game... i still have never played it. I may actually give 2077 a try (via the portal) as there has been so much talk about it again, thanks to SW2 and now this comparison vid from DF. https://youtu.be/SvGQik3m6a...

dveio313d ago (Edited 313d ago )

I think it's an okay decision or happening.

iirc, wasn't there even a new and probably last update coming soon announced recently?

I've never played 2077, neither. (I am still a bit mad about their ... well, anyway.)

But I think it can't get better to play that game, or any game for that matter, in a 100% complete, fully updated build.

DivineHand125313d ago

Cyberpunk and Risk of rain 2 are the best of the bunch. Not a bad month if you are one of the few that haven't played those games.

yeastori313d ago

Cyberpunk is probably one of the best games I've ever played, even when it came out with all the bugs and glitches and broken gameplay on consoles, I still loved it at its core because the world was exactly what I wanted in a dystopian vision of the real future and the story was actually well done and compelling. With the fixes and then Phantom Liberty I just knew that this game could've been GOTY winner if it hadn't been released too early and released on PS5. XBX and two years later.

shinXseijuro313d ago

Might give cyberpunk a chance now that the game redeemed itself . Is it only the basic game or with the newer content ?

xHeavYx313d ago

According to the article, it's just the base game, but the DLC will be 30% off

TM3 is my favorite but I'll take what they bring out gladly. Fun times back in the day and great soundtracks

Cacabunga595d ago

Last one on ps4 wasn’t good at all.
Hoping for some good reboot or remake of the first 3

Dagexon595d ago

You mean the one on ps3?

Cacabunga594d ago

Yes i do, thanks! I realized too late couldn’t edit

Lego 2K Drive features an exciting mode called Brick Brawl, inspired by Twisted Metal. Players can create, share, and upload various cars, including ones like Sweet Tooth. The game boasts thousands of custom cars, ranging from the Batmobile to the Sweet Tooth ice cream truck.

InUrFoxHole595d ago

Never understood the like for the series. Not my bag but I know a lot of gamers are clamoring for a new game and liked the TV. Series

TiredGamer595d ago (Edited 595d ago )

TM1 and 2 are time period classics. They were a bit rough, ugly, and grungy, but they felt right during the time period they were released and they scratched that early console “death match” itch before FPS games would completely swallow that market.

Many great memories with friends playing couch co-op and 1v1. Short, and quick-and-dirty gameplay that we returned to over and over. I’d buy a remake or proper remastering of the first two games day one.

InUrFoxHole595d ago

Lol, nice! I remember having the tiger handheld or watch..

FinalFantasyFanatic594d ago

I played those so much as I kid, I bought the Twisted Metal games that were on PSN as Playstation Classics, wow, they feel clunky by today's standards, they could really use the remake/remaster treatment.

UltimateOwnage595d ago

Twisted Metal: Black is when the series really hit for me. I still love that game so much. It was kind of downhill for the series after that IMO. I'd love to see the series go back to its roots, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for David Jaffe coming back from where he is these days to oversee development of a competent sequel.

Snookies12595d ago

Black was the pinnacle in my opinion. I adored TM1 and TM2, for sure. But Black brought it to a whole new level of awesome.
