Wow all you need is a GTX 970 for the recommended specs. I should be able to play this in 4K 60fps with ease with my skylake 9700k and RTX 2070

Dunno, might have to wait to see if Nvidia can get really good Game Ready drivers for it. I've seen benchmarks on 2080Tis getting the same FPS as 1070s. Also, the Gears 4 hard-freeze BSOD issue was present in the Gears 5 Tech Test, so unless they get that sorted, I feel bad for them on Steam reviews once it releases.

Nvidia fixed the hard-freeze once for them in mid-2017 with driver 382.53, but MS screwed it right back up with all the Anniversary Update, Falls Creators Update, and other major updates that just messed things up more. I think Nvidia got fed up with it and gave up, considering Windows Store games/apps are such a small % of the gaming community.

I'm not willing to go through the whole mess again though, or willing to revert back to a 2+ year old driver, Gears 4 still freezes, just did about an hour ago for me. If the Steam version is just a copy-paste, and gonna be reliant on too much Windows Store apps like Xbox App and Game Bar, etc, as it seems it will, my hopes of a Steam version fixing the issue will probably be dashed.

Man... I'm glad i don't have the issues you do....

Then again I dont play gears 4 on PC I play on a regular xbox one.

Yeah, he's a one of. I remember launching Gears 4 on PC/TV with my buddies doing co-op and pushing it at 4K, it looked so smooth and ran without a hitch. We played long into the night smashing it on Horde mode.

The benchmark is trash in the MP with actual gameplay you can crush this game at 4k 60fps max settings with a 2070

Gears of War 4 did not run at 60fps at 4k ultra on the GTX 1070, you had to be 4k medium.

NarutoFox2485d ago

That's about to change with Gears 5

Computersaysno2485d ago

9700k and 2070? You'll barely be able to run it! lel

My 9900KS and NVLink dual Titan RTX should do ok though

NarutoFox2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

As long as I can run it. Did I mention I can play Gears 5 on PC :) 9700 is still a 8 core cpu. I can't afford a Titan RTX at the moment

Gtx970 is still the standard I see. Should be a year or so before I upgrade seriously again.

DaMist2485d ago

Well I for one I'm glad. My 1080 died soon after warranty ran out and I had to go back to using the 970 and it might be a while before I upgrade to the 2070 super.
