I don't know what it is with lara . but they can never get that character model right . she looks like a fkn plastic doll. the face is sharp and ugly .

Tomb Raider Underworld is actually shaping up to be a great game. Hopefully enough to whet my appetite for Uncharted 2.

Honesty I don't really care about who has the fancier graphics anymore. I had fun playing Uncharted last December and I'm sure I will have fun playing the newest Tomb Raider at some point as well.

in my opinion, so far, from what I have played of Tomb Raider, it seems like a more fun and more interesting game based on exploration, Uncharted was just a run here, shoot them, jump there, shoot them, annoying seadoo coming up, shoot the barrels, shoot them, run here, shoot them, jump here, run here, jeep time, it was a pain in the ass really.

But TR seems to be more exploration oriented and so far the environments that I have seen look more interesting, but that is just my opinion, and yes I have played Uncharted a good bit, I am not just basing my Uncharted talk off of videos or nothing I played it up until the part where you have to ring 2 huge bells then I just stopped.

So the TR demo was more fun than the parts of Uncharted I played.

Wow, Uncharted graphics win here considerably.

The great thing about Uncharted is that 1 year on the game still looks graphically fresh and new. Im still playing from time to time to get trophies and the game still looks incredible, still one of the best looking games on a console...

Devs should use this game as a benchmark, it really shows what the system can do.. And theres NO install!!

Well, there's no denying that Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is definitely looks graphically better. But I wonder which one plays better...hmmm, probably Uncharted. Uncharted FTW!

Uncharted still looks better and now I'm even more hyped for Uncharted 2. Tomb Raider looks less detailed when compared to Uncharted and judging from those pics Lara Croft needs to sue her plastic surgeon for that awful botox mishap.

the graphics were better than the previous title "legend" the water fx have much improved.

i looked at the comparison, raider does fall pretty short compared to uncharted. Ive played the tomb raider demo, very smooth frame rate with no vsync issues at all.

if you played underworld, it stands pretty strong on it's own, considering all the tomb raider game's from 2006 and back looked a lot less than this one.

IMO I'm more of a lara fan and prefer chicks more than dudes, so tomb raider is my cup of tea.

Uncharted wins by default.

Uncharted is one of the most lush, beautiful, and graphically stunning games on the PS3. Whenever you get wet in Uncharted, Drakes clothes actually look "wet" by turning a darker color and having a certain sheen to them that makes them look like real wet clothes and his clothes slowly dry over time and turn back to the original color.... I don't think I've ever seen that done in a video game before that realistically until I played Uncharted.

I was never a fan of the Tomb Raider series and have only played demos of past Tomb Raider games, but Uncharted is a great step above Tomb Raider to me. Plus, the Cover System in Uncharted is just Brilliant and Uncharted has higher production values.

Uncharted is the all around better game IMO. The graphics in Drake's also bring a much more immerse feel to them you just can't see in screenshots that I doubt tomb raider will have. Like when you get into the water or when it rains your clothes look wet. Im not sure but I don't think there's another game out that does that. Water reflections don't just have a mirror effect but the ripples distort the image properly. Also the plants move when you touch them and to show things like how hard the wind is blowing. Lighting and shadows are wonderful and facial expressions are really detailed. The only thing I didn't like are the explosions which aren't bad but could be much better. Don't get me wrong I hope tomb raider is good, but I just doubt it will come anywhere close to Uncharted's graphics, gameplay, voice acting, or story.

im sry but wen uncharted came out,it just destroyed lara's rep IMO,i love the uncharted story and character depth to the game... its hard to bond with lara's characteer after making like 6 games (guessing) and the mojority of them sucking.

and visually, uncharted kicks the living bajeepers outta lara croft.
story wise uncharted also dominates over lara for the fact that IMO i perfer the realistic adventure storie that can relate to real life forsho.
and the funfactor part of it,haaaahaaaa uncharted blows lara outta the water despite all laras abilities.. Nate is the real hero here.
+ the sound,explosions,VIOCE over action,and especialy MOTION CAPTURE,and of course the melee system all surpass lara.

dont get me wrong though,i still like lara croft and her games for the ps1 but nate has the edge now.

I was playing the Tomb Raider Underworld demo and I quit half-way through it and I was like, screw this game, I want to play Uncharted all over again...

Completely trashed by Uncharted, even after a year its still the best looking console game.

Uncharted was one of the best game's i've played this generation.

anyway, Uncharted blows this game out of the water graphically. i downloaded the TR demo on my 360, and there really isn't any comparison graphically.

Uncharted has better textures, better animation, better character models.

with that said, i can't wait for TR: Underworld, because i love Tomb Raider, and i think Crystal Dynamics did a fantastic job revitalizing the series. i had almost lost faith in the franchise until TR: Legend and Anniversary.

besides, Tomb Raider and Uncharted are completely different games in the GAMEPLAY department.

Tomb Raider is more a puzzle based action/platformer.

while Uncharted is more of an action based action/platformer.

both are ripping off of the current Prince of Persia games anyway (ie, Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and Two Thrones).

there's always room for more games in the "Indiana Jones pulp adventure genre," so i don't see why Lara and Nate have to compete in the first place.

Graphically i would say Drakes has the edge on Tombraider but i think judging by the demi of underworld i played that Tombraider has the better level design.
As for graphics on a console having played gears2 today i would say thats miles better than uncharted graphically.

Darkes is better graphically than TR but tombraider judging by the demo has much better level design.
And graphically having played Gears2 today thats miles better than both.

Like most people said, Uncharted is way better. I don't mean just the graphic, but the story, game play, the characters and the script were awesome. (Love the humor in it) Uncharted is packed with actions, energy, and life. I'd pick Uncharted anytime over Tomb Raider. Can't wait for the Uncharted 2 to come out ^.^ b

Yes I am so jealous that my launch 60gb ps3 that I paid 599.00 US can play Drake and Tomb Raider. My point is that I see so many slam a game that appears on both consoles and largely only have praise for their beloved exclusives. I see this from both camps.

nostalgic and adventurous feel to it with its characters, cool badass enemies, story, music and of course its tropical setting. Its still my favourite game and well ahead of its time. Its almost perfect for my preference.

Naughty Dog's hard working efforts. I recall this being highly desired by 360 gamers. ND are going to have hard time surpassing an already awesome game with Uncharted 2.

besides graphics, Uncharted has a better story/script than all the Tomb Raiders put together. The characters are likealike in Uncharted.

Tomb Raider Underworld is going to be another flop like Angel of Darkness.

it shows the quality of naughty dog and the ps3 hardware that people here consider uncharted superior with respects to gameplay and graphics when its roughly a year older then the competition.

My god that game is fun! I've only played a minute or two of Tomb Raider and didn't have as much fun with that game as I did with Uncharted, so it gets the nod in gameplay.
Graphically, it looks like Uncharted gets the nod too. Plus(and I love this), you can look at all the pretty locales and experience the gameplay without any loading times. It's seamless, and therefore perfect. I don't know how Naughty Dog did it, but it's amazing, and I can't wait for the sequel. I'm buying it at launch.

Even though Tomb Raider has been confirmed by several sources to look better on PS3 still if Tomb Raider were only exclusive to the PS3 they could of done so much more.

its the only game thats almost two years old, and its still $60!!!! where is the price drop?!?!? gta4 went down, why not Uncharted? but one of the best games i played, graphics and story-wised..im sured U2 will be even better and a longer gameplay **spoiler, but im sure everyone played it* (except for those zombie thingys)

Tomb Raider looks fine, remember it is multiplat. No multiplat can compete with exclusive first party.

Damn though few games can come close to uncharted. KZ2 and Gears are the only close ones.

It was starting to get a bit repetitive until the uh..."surprise" at the end.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
