Is EA Really an Evil Company

Is it accurate to refer to EA as the bad guys? Or is it a company just doing what companies do? Is it really evil?

LOL. Yes. They are the kind of company that give capitalism a bad name.

Sono4212498d ago (Edited 2498d ago )

They could be worse tho, just wait they'll start releasing 2 versions Fifa, they're both the exact same game, but have characters exclusive to each version, I don't mean just randoms either, each game has multiple high profile players exclusive to each version, forcing you to get both versions if you wanted to get all characters, or experience exclusive things that one of the other version offers.

God wouldn't that be a really scummy thing to do? I wonder who actively does this now? hmm.....

Edit--------------
The more I think about it, the more im surprised they don't do this, I mean company X gets away with it year after year after year, so why don't they try their luck? Probably because people will ACTUALLY give negative feedback for a blatant cash grab instead of just giving them a pass like they do with company X

@Sono421 isnt that how nintendo does their Pokemon games?

solideagle2498d ago

answer: surprise mechanic :)

ApocalypseShadow2498d ago

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes....hell yes they are. What kind of question is this?

No influencers will change the narrative.

neutralgamer19922498d ago

Yes they are greedy beyond the point of no return. They generate more from micro transactions than selling games what more do we need to know

And they believe single player games are not viable

harmny2498d ago (Edited 2498d ago )

Nope. Not evil. They do unpopular stuff but that's it. They're just a hated (with good reason) buy successful gaming company

Is Sony evil? Child labor charges? Students forced to assemble PS4s? Worse than surprise mechanics if you ask me. but I don't consider Sony evil either

gangsta_red2498d ago

I see you're getting as many down votes as I usually do, here's an up vote on me.

It's a popular narrative on the interwebs for certain companies to have this image of being "evil". And yet every company more than likely has engaged in the same type of behavior as their "evil" comrades.

They certainly aren't the good guys at least. I'm just hoping they get caught handing out bribes to politicians due to all this loot box controversy.

"I'm just hoping they get caught handing out bribes to politicians"

If they get 'caught' nothing will happen.

I just want people to stop buying their games. I have made it all generation buying one EA game: Titanfall 2. For $15 and it is the most value I have seen anyone extract out of the company.

DarXyde2498d ago (Edited 2498d ago )

There are no laws in place preventing that from happening. That might hurt the reputation of some politicians (particularly any progressive politician that vowed not to take corporate money) but most I imagine wouldn't be deterred by taking that money in broad daylight.

If you can believe it, most people probably don't know who their representative's donors are.

Viryu2498d ago

Maybe in Europe during one of the hearings about loot boxes and gambling. In USA bribes are called donations, they are legal there from what I've heard.

Scatpants2498d ago

That's called "lobbying" it's legal in our "democracy".

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio20d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing20d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9220d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit20d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing20d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9220d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
