Anthem: Is It Still Worth Playing?

Chris Writes:

Despite a vocal minority claiming that the game is dead, Anthem is very much alive and active. Anthem is still thriving almost five months later, and once you get your hands on the game, it's truly easy to understand why.

"Still"?

It was never worth playing in the first place.

Rude-ro2494d ago

What is your judgment on that?
Available play time?
Gameplay?

I mean, cod has shoved out 4hr campaigns for how long with only the same pvp over and over and over and over..
No difference in a pve grind.

I just ask because there is a solid grind to get to the end game... it is just then it falls flat.

I’m not saying it is great by any means, to each their own, but your point is so vague... I just was curious.

Madden, fifa, nlb, forza, etc all are repetitive cycles with no end game other than playing by yourself or pvp...

What is your value system?

isarai2494d ago

"What is your value system?"

It's called fun, and the only thing fun in anthem is the core mechanics, but theres just nothing fun to do with them, so they get boring after like an hour, couple that with the pisspoor level of polish and no good loot (even though its a looter shooter) and yeah, not worth it. I can get a similar gameplay loop and gameplay style playing warframe for free with FAAAAR better loot

Rude-ro2493d ago

@isarai and I agree.
That was not my point..
As far as going from point A to point B in its campaign, there is value to be had.
It is not a buggy mess. Not in my playthrough. Connection issue here and there.. but please, name any massive online game that has not had issue like that.

I am also not defending the game...

I am saying, the full progress until the npcs no longer have anything to say has a value and length to it.
That is then when you reach them end game of which is exactly like you described. No loot.
To get everything done is over 15 hours of gameplay with a narrative.
It does not fall short compared to any other campaign in the last 10 years.

I am also not saying you “should” like any of it... but that does not negate that at its core, it offered a value.

Author - “Anthem is still thriving almost five months later...”

You sure about that ?

If you can get it "for free" yes. If you gonna give them money for this... forget it. EA will use it for their next mischievous plan

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing14d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9214d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit14d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing14d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9214d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
