With Project xCloud on the horizon, Microsoft may need to do more to improve how games handle on mobile devices. Could it look something like this?

Much prefer this strategy to something like the Switch or even the Switch Lite. No need for me to carry a dedicated games player on my person when I already have a phone and a Surface Go in my bag that can do much more than a Switch ever could. Microsoft allows gamers to choose the price point and power that best suites them and the games scale or down depending on the device you choose. Before my Go, I use to rock a Surface Book 15"...could play Gears 4 at 1080p and 60FPS comfortably. No way my Go plays any AAA game at that target but then again my Go only cost a fraction of the Book's price.

I don't know how practical these grips are...I use a standard Xbox One controller, but if it can support a nice amount of weight, I can see it working wonders for a tablet/phone.

You are not allowed to look like Xbox anyting on this site!

I know right haha...the disagrees come out heavy around these parts when saying something positive about Xbox.

blady_man2497d ago

you still have to carry the adapters and cables(if its connected by cables if it doesn't use Bluetooth) so whats your point again?

thexmanone2497d ago

Maybe leave it in your desk at work then, Its not like you have too carry the sh!t around everywhere.

What adapter and cables? The Xbox One Controller is paired to my Go already via Bluetooth and is wireless. It fits in my bag comfortably. In terms of battery, The Surface Go can get up to 7 hours of normal use and about 4-5 hours depending on the game being played. However, its no different than with the Switch...its battery will only last for a limited time on the road. The Surface Go has a better screen on it and better sound capability, and it allows me to do much more with it than a Switch...better everything...Netflix and entertainment options, web broswers and apps, light content creation and Office...its just so much more versatile. I carry my Go with me everywhere so theirs never need to carry around an additional device just to play games on when I currently have about 34 games on my Go right now. Again, progress and saves just work via the cloud and when I get back home, it syncs right to my X to pick up where I left off.

That's the point.

So basically choose to use your 50 inch telly or 6 inch phone? 🤔

timotim2496d ago (Edited 2496d ago )

I use a 55" OLED at home and a 10" Surface Go on the road...works out pretty well for me. But how is that any different than the same 55" OLED I would be using for the Switch docked and its 6" screen on the Switch while undocked???

aconnellan2496d ago

And yet the PS Vita is 5 inches, but isn’t that praised as the underdog of the generation on N4G?

I guess my takeaway from that is the PS Vita’s screen size is ok, but a larger phone size (capable of playing higher-tier console games) isnt?

Literal_Cringe2496d ago

If you're 50 inch telly is easily portable, then I'd like to know where you bought it.

RizBiz2497d ago (Edited 2497d ago )

This would have been nice five years ago when phones had massive bezels, but they're useless now that they block 20% of the bezel-less screens.

Literal_Cringe2496d ago

Yeah, I can see this being a benefit for users who have wider than normal aspect ratios like the Samsung phones

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing12d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9212d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit12d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing12d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9212d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
