Don’t Be Too Optimistic For Google Stadia

Last month, as more information unveiled for the upcoming service via the first Stadia Connect live stream, opinions on its implementation became even more polarized.

UltraNova2514d ago

Seriously, how anyone remotely in touch with the gaming industry can be too optimistic about Stadia?

Rude-ro2513d ago

Well, there are people optimistic about Microsoft... and there is no difference in said direction.

darthv722513d ago

I'm just optimistic about gaming in general. Life is to short to be pessimistic.

SyntheticForm2512d ago

If it weren't for Halo: CE, Xbox would have sunk immediately.

Stadia needs a powerhouse exclusive game to launch with, or it'll launch like a mortar dud. People already dislike the streaming aspect, so Stadia (more than Microsoft in 2001) need a trump card.

Fluttershy772513d ago (Edited 2513d ago )

Well I may not be in touch with the gaming industry, like all of you "in the in, broes" are; I'm just a gamer... And I am excited about Stadia

You are not out of touch. Streaming services is the future of gaming. Google will help evolve internet infrastructures and who doesnt want to play on hardware that no normal person can afford. Eventually games will even look better than what PS5 and the new Xbox can offer. People downvoting you are the real people out of touch. I predicted this a decade ago and I guess I was out of touch then too.

killswitch802513d ago

how out of touch are you that you don't see streaming services are the future. Trust me on this in the next 5 years ..it will be an amazing place to play games. It might not be great at launch but Google will work with IPs and infrastructures will evolve and it will be pretty standard in the near future for even hardcore gamers.

UltraNova2513d ago (Edited 2513d ago )

Stadia is not the "future", its right around the corner and it will launch at a time when internet infrastructure cannot accommodate its full vision. Plus Google first needs to prove they stick to their initiatives, at least long enough for them to matter before they axe them.

Then there's the concept of true ownership( which it alludes you, apparently). I'd never buy into something that effectively is letting me play online under the service providers total control. Its like "buying" something only to end up rent it. That's not how I want to spend my money.

xX-oldboy-Xx2513d ago

Come to Aus - how infrastructure stinks, huge land mass and bugger all people = shitty internet.

SegaGamer2514d ago

From what I have seen, not many people are.

ApocalypseShadow2513d ago

Wasn't in the slightest.

And no Google influencers will change my thinking about it.

Einhander19712513d ago

Couldn’t careless, not interested. End of message.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio26d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing26d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit26d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing26d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
