There’s a good article somewhere on the net showing some of the dev designer documents for this game. The level of detail they put into creating fish, coral, rocks etc was pretty amazing for its time.
Its a classic game that never gets old for. But seriously to hell with Welcome to the machine. That level and the one before it suck.

No mention to "World of Illusion"? probably one of the best children's platform games of the 16bit era, with 2 very different paths depending on the main character you chose and a completely different 3rd path if you played co-op.
I bought it, just like I did with NES and SNES Classic, with one thing in mind... To install more games on it!!!
Ummm... That's fine for you. But I personally owned many of the games that I plan on installing more games on to it... So it's not pirating the ROMs at all.

The fact that they dropped AT Games for this alone makes it more desirable. The Megadrive was my first ever console growing up, so I hated that AT Games constantly put out poorly emulated garbage for years any time I was looking for a nostalgia fix.
