This is not the 7th generation. 2019, not 2009. You can drop the silly subjective titles.

This hardcore gamer thinks the Switch is a great system to pair with something else. I haven't approached it as a primary system (the system to default to over all others), but it paired with a PS4 for example can make for a pretty excellent combination.

As for hardcore gamers "abandoning" Nintendo, I don't think that's remotely true. Even if their consoles haven't had as much success with the hardcore crowd as their competitors have had, they've still consistently had a solid fandom, not to mention no rival handheld has topped Nintendo's in the dedicated handheld market (Sony's PSP is by far the most successful rival handheld with an impressive 80+ million units sold, but that was still nowhere near the DS in sales). Hardcore gamers may not have always chosen to game exclusively on Nintendo consoles, but that doesn't mean they didn't own them or support them.

I actually think Astral Chain is second in place (after FF 7) for the best game of E3. Astral Chain isn't enough to make me want to go out and buy a Switch but it is a game I'm very interested in and is a step in the right direction for sure.

People who have bought switch are their hardcore base, guys who buy Mario, Zelda, smash bros etc...

Not me, I used to be a huge Nintendo fan when I was younger. It's not the same company now.

I certainly think this is their best effort to do so in a long time.

Have the gobshites that swallowed all the marketing spin from Sony and MS about POWAH being the most important thing about gaming, returning. Probably not, have a load of old fans and grownups that appreciate its unique selling point jumped on board. Yeah, in droves.

LOL!! So far it's not for me,though I like the hybrid console but the Switch library of exclusives just don't appeal to me what so ever.

Maybe....but witcher 3 on a mobile device is crazy sick...might buy the game again .Hope for a switch 2 in a cople of years with a little more under the hood....

Anyway, trust me Nintendo dont care who buys the system as long as they keep raking in Millions.

They definitely won back a lot of loyalty from gamers, classify as you wish, but the fact that it already trounced the Wii U sales, and beat out PS4 in japan proves that. 3rd party support seems higher than it has been in many years as well, seems like they are winning back alot to me.

Well lets look at what hardcore gamers are they're gamers that support all different consoles like myself I own an Xbox One X and PS4PRO I'll get the more powerful Switch when it releases for sure. With over 34 million consoles sold I think its had hardcore gamers back I mean some might have lost hope with the Wii U bombing (oh wait Phil Spencer said sales don't matter) so that can't be it. Switch is on the go people love playing games on the go the sales can surpass PS4 down the road especially with the rumored upgraded and cheaper Switch models in production and they'll pass Xbox One by 2020.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
