The top 3 in my opinion are represented here in #4, #2, and #1. No Ocarina of Time also pleases me, but I could live with it supplanting #5.
I am bias to the old days though, Zelda 1 was for me the first game to truly break me, 12+ hours straight, I had to retire to my bed, where I pulled the blankets over my eyes and cried, due to the headache and eye strain incurred. And the whole time I was thinking, "I can't wait to get back to the game!" I was 6.

shadow of the colossus, although not a franchise, can hold its own against any zelda game.

I would have liked to see Ocarina of Time on the list. I played through that game start to finish 4 or 5 times, I enjoyed it that much. Majora's Mask, well, that one you either liked it or didn't. I beat it and thought it was an alright game, it was unique, but I've known other people who just did not enjoy the time mechanics at all. Once you figured out how to slow down time, it was pretty much the same as any other Zelda game.

Twilight Princess, well I lost interest about halfway through the game and just quit playing. Did the same thing with Windwaker (though I did eventually beat it years later). Good choices for the other ones, Link to the Past is definitely number 1 in my book.

Probably would have just been better to rank them all against one another instead, no real Zelda games were bad (CD-i games are not real Zelda games, let's all just accept that fact). I don't think there was ever a mediocre one out there.

It is one of the best games ever made and at its time was massively huge and still is a huge game......basically there are very few flaws with that game and to not have it on the list is sad.....

Ive played them all and I think Ocarina of Time is the best one. Imo its still the only perfect game, followed extremely close by ALTTP.
With OOT you just got more involved with link, dungeons were amazing as well. OOT = Greatest Game of all Time.

The tones that the flutes created in Ocarina of Time were some of the most magical times of my life.

In the case of Zelda. Older is better.

Hmm I though Ocarina of time was the sh!t, Story telling wise I thought it was the pinnacle of the series, a real focus on the triforce and the connection between link zelda and ganon and it introduced epona which was very unique at the time, I've never played LTtP so I can't say much for it, only other zelda games I've played was Links awakening and windwaker, but From what I've seen my brother play( majoras mask and twilight princess all zelda games are unique in there own right

Is that most of the dungeons are just not that great. Almost all of them are a cake walk and the bosses that follow are pretty weak in difficulty and originality. Keep in mind I've never been a huge Zelda fan but I can't say I particularly enjoyed LTTP. The only one's I've played through at least twice are OoT and LA because they were simply the most enjoyable. And by God in 1998 OoT was the most fun you could have in a video game, it's just that certain parts didn't age well. Don't blame the game, blame the system for that. OoT without question should be on the list, it's already known how well the game was received and 10 years later it's to easy to pick on a game that was on one of the original 3D systems. Believe me, in 1998, you wouldn't have a real argument against this game.

I agree wholeheartedly with you man. But I also don't think TP was a bad game, in fact its very good. Zelda is one of those series where there are no bad Zelda games (minus the cd-i shi*). Even with overyped reviews and such OoT still remains the highest rated game ever. And in my opinion is still the goat. It was phenomenal.

I know Ocarina has become cliché but dammit if I still don't love the Phuck outta that game. I mean everything about it imo says epic. Majora's Mask is only number two because it came out after OoT. Had Majora been made first it would have definitely been my top pick, but OoT was in fact my first Zelda game, and after that I had to play everything else.

cant really agree with this list. first no ocarina? wth, that game changed gaming forever and is one of the only games i have played more then 4 times (i have beaten it about 10) and still play it. personally i think it would be a coin toss between oot, and alttp. both two of my all time favorites and on my top 5. glad to see links awakening on there though. i thought only i really appreciated that game.

Top 5 List should be:

1) Majora's Mask
2) Link to the Past
3) Ocarina of time
4) Legend of Zelda
5) Zelda 2

I feel most skipped Majora's Mask, or those who played it, gave up to quick.

Its probably one of the most difficult Zelda games, and they added some great new twist

1) they add tons of masks that gave new abilities, some let you transform into different characters

2) they tried a new plot, ventured away from zelda and ganondwarf

3) The whole game takes place in the time span of 3 days, and you have to control time , moving forward or backwards, to do different parts. Some objectives were only able to be done at certain times of certain days.

and i am the only one that really hates a link to the past? man... how i hate that game.

man, i really loved minish cap, the art, the music, the style, and it have some of the better boss fights i ever saw in a game... really boss battles became less astounding after i played minish cap...
