Hell No they cut support for Vita soon as Ps4 released the commercials started slowing down than we kept getting cell phone quality games from 3rd part snd nothing from sony.Vita was a beast of an handheld miss playing killzone mercenaries

Will be very hard to compete with Nintendo. I love my vita with custom firmware and my ps4. But when it comes to proper handheld I think switch is the best one with the best support. Still I'd love a vita 2 with all of the buttons DS4/5 has and will have so we can have a better remote play experience

Not at all especially with Sony stopping 1st party support of it's last handheld 3 years in it's lifecycle. Imo Sony needs to stick to home gaming consoles & software including VR,let Nintendo continue the handheld thing.

Look its simple. Allow me to play ps4 and ps5 games on the handheld using wii u like tethering but better and with online streaming. That would destroy everything. Think of the library of games!

The psp was good. I had one. Loved it. It did well enough to encourage the Vita, but Nintendo destroyed the psp in sales. Then the vita came, was totally neglected and left unsupported with very few games or apps but also... Nintendo again destroyed the Vita in sales... with not just one handheld but multiple.

So is it time for a new handheld we’ve been asked for the 27th time in 6 months? Sony doesn’t seem to care about handhelds anymore as evidenced by the vita and it’s pretty easy to see why. So no. In my opinion just no. If you need to play your games on the go, hope they get their streaming service going instead. It will be simpler, cheaper and better. Minimal sacrifices and all the power of a console.

As someone who counts the Vita amount his favorite systems of all time; it is not.

The system was incredible but it's failure proved to Sony that they couldn't make a handheld system and sell it in a post cell phone world.

Whenever I say this I typically get a few specific objections.

1) the memory cards were too expensive.

While this is true, I just don't think there were many people all in on the machine who heard a memory card was expensive and changed thier minds. The cards were a pain but I believe that everyone who really wanted one still got one.

2) Sony didn't support the machine.

They put an original Uncharted, Wipeout and Killzone games on the machine. They also made original IPs like Tearaway and Gravity Rush. And there were many more. You can complain that some of these weren't great but the fact that they made them shows they did try.

If they announced another handheld machine I'd get it and love it. But I believe Sony thought they put the effort Into it that should have ended with a system that did well. When it didnt, they thought they couldn't make a portable machine that did well.

I want another, but I think they should only after they launch the PS5

I'd like to see them try but I'd also like to see them abandoned the horrible property memory cards that made Vita so much more expansive to own. Nintendo needs competition in the handheld space

Why would Sony come out with another dedicated handheld when they're set to expand their streaming service to every device?

They would more than likely push their Xperia devices a lot more than any dedicated handheld.

Not to mention being worried about Sony themselves supporting a dedicated handheld after they abandoned the Vita.

Hopefully we never go the handheld route again. Japanese developers were so damn side tracked last gen with putting lots of games on handhelds rather than consoles. Better time could have been spent making full ps3/360 versions of those games.

I would be surprised if Sony even wanted to do one, given how much they cared about the Vita. I would love for there to be another Sony handheld, but not if they're just going to drop it on the market and hope it sells. The PSP sold as well as it did because that first party support was there for a good while, and also plenty of Western support too. Third party Japanese and indie devs carried the Vita for a time by filling those niches, but a successful system needs to have enough variety to appeal to a wide range of gamers with varying interests. Otherwise, at best you end up with a cult system, which can work for those who appreciate it but is not exactly what a business wants if they wish to stay in the black. Oh, and using a common memory card format is highly recommended.
