"The reality of the PlayStation 5 is that it will face an uphill battle. Sony is walking a thin line between keeping investors feeling the company is relevant and satisfying consumers. They really need an active PS4 base to migrate over to PS5. Otherwise, the PS4 customers will start going to alternative platforms like PC, Switch, Xbox.”

What? I don't get their logic.

"But Cole is of the belief that TLOU II’s internal delay into next year wasn’t “intentional”, adding he doesn’t get why Sony decided to push the thought that it’s starting to kill off the PS4.”

When did they do that? Because of the Mark Cerny Wired interview? Everyone knows the PS5 is coming.

There is no logic to it at all. It is as if PS5 is doomed if every PS4 gamer doesn't migrate on launch day. PS4 is far from done and Sony isn't suggesting it is going anywhere. This dude is just confused.

I'd say just look at the three previous generational transitions Sony has done with PlayStation. With PS5 being BC it'll be almost seamless. They also support their hardware well beyond its lifespan.

DVAcme2557d ago

Exactly. Being backward compatible and cross-compatible with the PS4 means that players can simply buy the new hardware without even buying a single PS5 game and it's already a win cause all their PS4 games run in Pro Mode and they can still play online with their PS4 games, seamless as can be. And there will possibly be future pS4 games with downloads for enhanced modes for PS5, too. I wouldn't be surprised if Kojima Pro releases a PS5 enhancement patch for Death Stranding when the PS5 comes out.

Cool, as long as no one is losing their job while already rich people make more money.

Notellin227d ago

Exactly this right here. Tools should never replace creators.

I feel that this is the position of every sensible person. However, we face two prominent issues:

1. There are nefarious actors (like Microsoft) who want to prohibit AI regulation. Some US states have some regulations in place, but it's very patchwork at best.

2. Without strict quality control and human review, AI is very likely to hallucinate in embarrassing ways.

Lol.... People are gonna be losing their jobs...

Travesty227d ago

I’m all in favor for faster developed games.. that’s been the Achilles heel this gen.. taking 5+ years for development. If it can help with building vast landscapes then let it be. A win win if it doesn’t endanger the jobs of current team. They can help in other areas.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

H9227d ago

I don't doubt kojima that he has good intentions and would use AI without compromising the creative process, but you know for sure other development will say the same and have AI make the whole game for them.

Notellin227d ago (Edited 227d ago )

Yeah and whoever he works for or whatever AI models he chooses to use will train on his data and work to replace Kojima themselves.

I can't imagine any other creator in gaming that demands the salary size of Kojima.

What I wonder about, let’s say five years from now. Will an individual be able to make a triple A title using A.I…If so what would be the need for others? I hate to say it but eventually people will loose their jobs. Because I hear no talk about the ethics of using A.I. among the big companies.
