IGN writes: "For the past four years or so, Brad Wardell of Stardock has been talking about making a fantasy strategy game along the lines of Master of Magic, the classic 1993 title from MicroProse that is talked about by veterans in the same reverently hushed tones used for games like X-Com and the original Fallout. In fact, Wardell discussed the possibility of developing a proper sequel with Atari, which now owns the Master of Magic property. However, those talks broke down and Wardell decided to just make his own franchise. So after years of secrecy, Stardock finally announced Elemental: War of Magic today, and from a first look that Wardell gave me last week, this looks to be the game that Master of Magic fans have been waiting for."

Stardock, developer of the popular 4X PC space strategy series Galactic Civilizations, completely restructured itself as the result of a flop in land-based fantasy strategy game in 2010. Now the company will attempt to redeem itself in the genre. The story profiles the company and includes interviews on what's changed and how it's affected the company.
Glad that the disaster that was the original Elemental didn't kill these guys.
Seems like they got lucky with a big cash injection from the impulse sale and are now happily spending it on golden toilets and yoga classes for the office and staff, what could possibly go wrong. Seriously though I hope galciv 3 will be great because it really needs to be after elemental.

Critically Sane's The Strategist takes a look at Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes, and the journey to get to the most recent stellar release.
"'If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.'
It’s a great motto for a 12 year old learning to play the piano, but in game development, not succeeding on the first try can often mean utter disaster for the company involved. Frequently, it results in the death of a franchise and an effort to cut and run as far as possible by the publisher. There are a number of reasons why an awful title reaches market, however, and occasionally, just occasionally, there’s enough love and support that leaving an effort to wither and die on the vine simply is not an option."

Stardock released the anticipated 1.2 update to its fantasy strategy title, Elemental: War of Magic today . Fans are now able to download it at the game’s web site, www.elementalgame.com.
