I second to that! I really like my PS4 Pro + 512GB SSD for it's performance, but the noise is just too much. I had to clean it already once to be able to play the latest Pro enhanced games (God of War, RDR2 etc.). It got significantly more quiet, but still the changing pitch of the launch Pro model is irritating as hell. Here's hoping PS5 won't have this problem.

They'll probably still have a fan, but if it runs hot, given the power, it will likely require more than just a heatsinks solution. Will depend more on the size and power efficiency of the chip itself.

You're playing the wrong games mate, have a crack at GOW, HZD and U4 and you'll see some amazing character models. Sony 1st Party are on another level, PS5 will facilitate graphic artists with more freedom and less constraints to create even more lifelike character models.

I think this is looking back with rose tinted graphics. You should go back and play uncharted 3 and then jump into uncharted 4. The difference is huge. Uncharted 3 still looks good, but the advancements are easily noticeable. Check the video below out and skip to 1:18 and watch the market scene.

Alternatively check out god of war 3, or even the remastered version and then look at the latest god of war. If you don't see the difference ( no idea how you couldn't) then you really don't need to upgrade for years.

On the other hand if it is photo realistic graphics you crave then I still think we are some years off. I think for true photo realistic graphics we will need 20-30Tflops (Maybe ps5 pro will get close if they do one).

Forget graphics. Games need more mechanics, features, AI, bigger fluid realistic worlds. Graphics is something that was always icing on the cake, but the cake needs to have flavor above all.

Fighting for a Switch was insane, this will be far worse. Hopefully, Amazon doesn't screw up shipping this time around.

As an adult buying a new console is the only time i get that "Christmas excitement" feeling. I will certainly buy the ps5 day one. I have also purchased every xbox day one, but not sure about the next one. i have an X and if it is still supported there is possibly no reason to. But the PS5 is a certainty, I will also hold off buying TLOU2 until the PS5 is released.

As long as they run stable and gfx are truly amazing then I dont mind. Better yet, I wish more devs would just give us the option between 60fps or graphics. With the pro and x and many games having enhancements for them, I do see that happening much more often now.

Sony and MS should set a standard together that all games must run at 60fps. These consoles have too much power to be wasted on silly effects that don't enhance gameplay and that kill performance and run like games from 2 gens ago.

Just think in Aus it'll probably cost about $700 - $800, hoping for $699. At that price the tech inside should be competitive, if not market leading.

My card is Nvidia now, but I'm nobody's fanboy. I want the hardware to be amazing. If it is, that means AMD are finally poised to actually compete with Nvidia Pascal and Turing, which would be better for all of us. The GCN room-heater architecture really has to go.

Funny thing about that - and it's relevant to console and PC, games take 4+ yrs to make. What's the point in upgrading every few years? How many FPS do people need?

Console generations are fixed snapshots in technology (mid-gen refreshes notwithstanding). During each gen (or refresh) it doesn't matter how much the hardware tech advances outside of its ecosystem. What matters is how much the software tech advances to take better advantage of the frozen spec. The results of such efforts can be amazing, with the better games from the tail end of a console cycle looking like they belong on better hardware than the early ones.

I dont know about Microsoft as Sony has the navi gpu exclusive to them. no1 knows what gpu the xbox is going to have but I do know that both ps4 and the next xbox will have a zen 2 ryzen

Maybe Vega is more suited to Microsoft's needs going forward.
Vega is AMD's Compute focused GPU architecture, Navi is more gaming related.

Sony wouldn't need the volumes of chips for PS5 that MS will need for their combined XCloud/Azure/XBox products.

We also haven't heard anything about Next-Xbox using Navi/RDNA.
Even though MS had a presence on the AMD Computex Keynote stage, AMD outright stated next-gen PlayStation is using Navi, but nothing has ever been said about Next-Xbox using it.

MS are likely building the most cost effective product they can, given that Azure is going to demand more Compute Focused hardware, it may be a better financial bet for them to just use a Vega GPU that is similar or the same in spec to Azure Servers.

Using Vega doesn't mean the console will be weak, it could have more CUs than PS5 to match outright gaming performance, as well as have it's own custom Ray Tracing hardware solution to allow for a similar outright development feature set to Sony's machine.

Maybe things will change at E3, it just seems pointless not to have confirmed Navi already.
I suspect both machines will be great upgrades over current gen consoles, especially with Ryzen and AMD GPU tech being so much better now.

I really hope we see more advanced AI, better physics (which will seriously help in VR as well), better draw distances etc.

Why would they? What makes this different than any other new generation? If they like money then they will be there. 3rd party will always be behind 1st party titles because they have to focus on more than one system. I don't understand why people always go into panic mode when a new gen comes. It's no different than any other.

New technology and tools come out and developers adapt. That will not change if they want to make money especially with gamers extremely (sometimes unrealistic) tastes.

Sony haven't confirmed they will host a PSX show this year.
They said in their last State of Play that there would be another soon.

There are rumors on Neogaf that Sony will be officially revealing PS5 at an event before E3, which supposedly comes from a number of reliable sources that have had good info in the past.

We also have rumors that The Last of Us Part 2 will have a new trailer and release date when Death Stranding is confirmed to get a new trailer.
Seems like Sony are dealing with their remaining PS4 info and they're going to show what's next soon.

Given that AMD confirmed more details about Navi and 3rd gen Ryzen it doesn't make much sense for Sony to wait long before showing off what PS5 can do.
