Introducing The New Xbox Game Bar

From Major Nelson: "At Xbox, we put gamers at the center of our vision – enabling them to play the games they want, with the people they want, and on the devices they want. As part of our efforts and commitment to improve the gaming experience on Windows 10, we want to bring PC players highly requested features based on their feedback. The first step in that is understanding how gamers engage on Windows and making the features and experiences they want easier to access, including social, music, performance and more. Today, we are excited to release a host of new features for PC gamers to the new Xbox Game Bar on updated versions of Windows 10."

Nice. Now if they could just get the regular audio mixer to work, and default to the speakers, instead of a headset, even if you don't have a headset, or defaulting to the optical out, even if you don't have it installed or use it, or the HDMI port, even if you don't have something plugged into the HDMI port.

Maybe some of these people over at Xbox could give the regular Windows engineers pointers on how to make a fluid and easy to use OS, where people don't have to fuss around with things to get them to work. Would go a long way to make more people want to play games online, because for every version of windows, that's something I've always had to fuss with.

Just go into sound settings and change the output/input to whatever you want. I have my Oculus, a camera, a mic, headset all plugged in and it's as simple as a few clicks to route the sound to the devices you need.

It works once you have it set up. But whenever you reinstall windows, you have to fuss around with the driver settings, otherwise, it defaults to something other than the speaker output. It'd be fine if it was easy to change from that, but it isn't.

You still can't swap controllers order, local multipliers is really not a thing they think of at all, is it?

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit22d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing22d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9222d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

But all of the great games have been made by humans

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.
