If I remember right they were losing precious licenses

Seraphim2552d ago

true. they were the ones to make several series popular outside Japan, as a publisher, but many of those games/franchises have become self published now or published by someone else. Games from Idea Factory, etc. They had become more a publisher than developer as 99% of their games were probably publishing deals.

The original Disgaea was phenomenal and one reason I supported and played a lot of the games NISA was bringing over for a while. If true I hope they can recover. I'm not a fan of Tactical RPGs but Disgaea, along with a couple others have always been great. I absolutely adore the Disgaea series and NIS has made some other solid games. Like Makai Kingdom, Rhapsody, LaPucelle Tactics, etc. Matter of fact. I'd love to see a new Makai Kingdom or HD remake even.

Yes I can see why they fell apart there. The Atelier franchise was published at one point by them and then Gust was scooped up by Koei Tecmo.

What a shame, I like their Disgaea series. But as I said in another article their games are extremely niche.

Even the titles alone wouldn't appeal to an average Western user.

At first glance, I've always thought the Disgaea games have never really evolved or changed. I remember seeing the game on the ps1 and looking at the newest ones, i would think it only got a resolution boost and nothing else.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit14d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing14d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9214d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
