Akane Review (Switch) | Hey Poor Player

Hey Poor Player's Greg Peterson writes: "Akane is a fast-paced, non-stop gore-fest with some killer tunes. And even though it can get pretty repetitive at times, it's still something fun to come back to from time to time to see if you can crush that old kill counter."

But true. Naive. Sure. But yeah.

VenomUK277d ago (Edited 277d ago )

Head of Arkane, and Deathloop project lead is Dinga Bakaba. He has a Jewish mum and Muslim dad, but has strong views on Palestine issue.

It’s fine to have his views, of course, but in one short-sighted move he has made his studio a political entity and this could affect all the staff.

I prefer he keep his politics out of the games.

They're not alone. A month ago I submitted a story about MS Shareholders demanding the same thing. The story was insta failed by a mod.

This is news 4 gamers. It's important for gamers to know the ethics of a company.

MS can survive without business from Isreal.

@venom

That guy's "politics" are that anyone who dies in that conflict, Jewish or Muslim should be mourned. That not politics.

That's called being a human being.

Eonjay277d ago

@VenomUK

If you see something wrong you should speak out. We can't have a class of atrocities that are immune from criticism simply because someone wants to label it political.

Politics are just concepts. Actually human life can not be reduced to talking points.

If you believe that simply speaking the truth transforms you from an empathetic human being into a political entity... you need to turn off the grifters and rejoin the actual human race.

Christopher277d ago

*** I prefer he keep his politics out of the games. ***

It isn't in a game. It's in real life. Where else is politics supposed to exist? And why is Microsoft allowed to promote its politics but not him?

VenomUK277d ago (Edited 277d ago )

@Eonjay @Christopher. I understand people have issues that are close to their hearts. But let's look at this under the microcosm of N4G. There may be a political issue or life or death going on in the UK that is so important to me, but just because it's important to me it doesn't mean I should annoy all the members here about it. Likewise, there are likely members who care about the loss of life in the Ukraine vs Russian war, maybe some people care the senseless deaths of the Ukrainians or the Russians. Or some people care about the Uyghur muslims mistreatment in China or the Christians murdered in Nigeria or the children being bombed in Palestine, or the festival goers raped and murdered in Israel. Nearly everybody has a cause that matters to them more than any other - it doesn't mean we need to campaign to others in a space that our opinion was never asked for.

Killer2020UK276d ago

With respect @Venom, that's absolute bullshit. You just gave your opinion and it wasn't asked for. Why do you think others shouldn't voice theirs in lieu of explicit request?

Nooderus276d ago

@venomuk
Whats happening to the Palestinians is a genocide. It's an ethnic cleansing of the area. It's bigger than politics and more people in companies still doing business with Israel should be talking about it. It should be something thats harder to avoid. It should be something people give their opinion on regardless of whether its been asked for or not. The Uyghurs should also be brought up more. That seems to be a genocide as well.

S2Killinit276d ago

Is it really political to say “don't stand with genocide”?

How about focus on making games if not Microsoft will shut the studio down. Just look at the other studios Microsoft shut down.

Cockney277d ago (Edited 277d ago )

"Arkane is the Microsoft studio behind games like Dishonored, Prey, and Deathloop"
So no redfall?
Also
The studio said in 2023 that it was going to "stay silent for a while."
Apparently not!

jznrpg277d ago (Edited 277d ago )

That was 2 years ago. I think that qualifies for a while.

Disccordia277d ago

Redfall - Arkane Austin
Dishonored, Prey and Deathloop - Arkane Lyon
