Cloud doesn’t look malnourished anymore

Pozzle2565d ago

Yeah, I'm glad they bulked him up a bit. He looks more like his original concept art design from the original game now.

Kurisu2565d ago

Yeah, he also looks a lot more "hard faced" in the 2015 trailer. I like his gentler looking approach.

I also am satisfied with the lightening in tone. I know that FFVII's world is supposed to be industrial and bleak, but a even a hint of colorful lighting in a dark-them does more good than harm.

Vegamyster2564d ago

In the context of Crisis core/FF7 that look didn't bother me but i like what they did.

bmf7364

I agree, the original game used a lot of different colors that made it pop, it wasn't grey'd out/dark like in the movie or the original remake trailer.

InKnight7s2565d ago

Everything was ok but Cloud new face is irritating he is more of Japanese pop singer than a claimed SOLDIER.

TricksterArrow2564d ago (Edited 2564d ago )

FF7 was never supposed to be realistic, though. The game walks a fine line between realistic and stylized, kinda like a Pixar movie (but more towards realistic). Cloud looks fine.

InKnight7s2564d ago

I am not against non-realstic designs, that us why I like CC, Dissidia, FFVII AC Cloud and even the original than this.

jaycptza2564d ago

So you hate all Japanese games. Which this is by the way

TricksterArrow2564d ago

I don't even think they consciously make the characters with Japanese features. It's just what they are used to (and they honestly look more cartoony/animey than actually Japanese). Yuffie is probably the only one who would be actually Japanese if the game were to feature completely realistic designs.

Lord_Sloth2564d ago

The new look honestly suits FFVII's sarcastic and playful Cloud more. I like that he got beefed up and looks more friendly since he was back then.

Pozzle2564d ago

And he's such a young guy too. Poor guy was only 21 in the first game and spent the latter part of his teen years in a test tube. It makes sense he wouldn't look like a battle-hardened soldier.

mixelon2565d ago

Definite improvement imo.

I wish they could put a unlockable retro mode where everyone looks like papercraft ps1 graphics again. 😂

CobraKai2564d ago

I’m most impressed how close it looks to the CGI Advent Children movie.

wraith99992564d ago

yep, i got the wall scroll and i was just comparing the two, looks great im hyped

TheVigilanteCode2564d ago

The new build of FFVIIR looks actually better than AC, with it's post processing and alpha effects.

Within a generation, I'm pretty sure we'll be playing in modern day CGI quality.

Cloud Zombie has been cured. It's miraculous

i mean, well deserved, its one of the best.

VenomUK85d ago

I’d love to know how many units have been sold of all the Final Fantasy VII franchise games, including the original, the remakes, spin offs such as Crisis Core, and mobile games Ever Crisis. I bet a fair few copies.

TheDreamCorridor85d ago

Modern day publisher be like: "Failed to meet sales expectations. Pivoting to live service."

aaronlif1085d ago

It's an absolute legend of a game. And I honestly really love how the remake trilogy is shaping up so far.

blacktiger84d ago

is the remake good if you didn't play ff7

Scissorman84d ago

If you already own it... There, I saved you the click on a deliberately misleading article.

DivineHand125108d ago

I bought the game yesterday on steam for $4 because Square Enix is trying to replace it with a version that has no mod support.

Prior to yesterday, I had no idea the game had so many great mods until people started making a fuss out of it.

Knightofelemia108d ago

I wish Square would port other old games to newer systems I want Xenogears.

gold_drake108d ago

You can thank FF7 scaring Baldur's Gate 2's director 'S***less' for every RPG since

But BG2 didn't emerge in a vacuum, and in a recent chat with Slandered Gaming it emerged that—while we can thank BG2 for a lot of our favourite RPGs since—we have a whole other game to thank for BG2. That'd be Final Fantasy 7, which lit a fire under BG2 director James Ohlen to go all out with the game's structure and companions, per Trent Oster—who worked on the original Baldur's Gate and has since become CEO of Beamdog, the studio behind the BG1 and BG2 Enhanced Editions.
