During a recent stream from NetherRealm Studios Twitch channel had Tyler Lansdown (Community Manager) and Derek Kirtzic (Senior Systems Designer) attend some of the concerns that people have been posting online. Specifically, they wanted to talk about what you can and cannot buy in their store, as well as the Krypt boxes issue.

it's very simple, you spend 60$ so you can spend more money to unlock things that 15 years ago would have been free.

002561d ago

yes I love spending 4000 hours to unlock things for one single game definitely "free". do people honestly believe these companies that put in these micro-transactions are not going to design these games so you spend money? the ridiculous towers of time is the perfect example to try and squeeze money out of consumers.

and the people who support this practice are the reason the video game industry as gone to shit, very few games are worth their price tag.

@00
I guess you never played a Mortal Kombat game since MK Deadly Alliance.
If you did. well, you would know that the grind, Krypt, Koins, and unlockables have been exactly the same (minus cooking with Scorpion) since these games.

@chiefJohn117

You say that like people's time is FREE, when is actually the most expensive thing in anybody's life.

chiefJohn1172561d ago (Edited 2561d ago )

@wirapuru I suggest you stop playing games then. Cause many games are adding content for years after release to keep you playing and entertained.

Well, you can still get them all for free, it just takes a grind (I don't know how much, but much less than what others have said as the amounts they listed were for all things unlockable, but much of that isn't available for money). But only cosmetics, which 15 years ago wouldn't exist in the quantity that we have now in these games. But, they can still all be unlocked for free.

Sono4212561d ago

Then go grind to unlock them all, get back to us when you're done.

Christopher2561d ago

Me explaining the specifics are an attitude? I even said it's a grind, just not as bad as people made it out to be.

You people need to stop looking for arguments.

chiefJohn1172561d ago (Edited 2561d ago )

15 years ago you had to unlock stuff to by completing the game, playing on a harder mode, finding secrets, etc. The only difference between now and then is they give you the option to buy it out right and the quantity of items. We people acting like MK krypt chest was something you could unlock in a day? Lol . I don't support it but as long as I can unlock it in game and it's cosmetic only I won't have a fit

chiefJohn1172561d ago (Edited 2561d ago )

You don't know the difference, why do you think devs are switching to Gaas? Why MS use MAU? So if you think every game should or will have everyone available to unlock after playing just 8-20 hours you got the game messed up (I hope this is a chick cause a dude calling another sweetie? Lol #Suspect) so while you sit there crying cause you cant 100% the game in 12 hours of play time and having a fit cause they offer the option to buy unnecessary skins that you can unlock in game I'll enjoying the game. Grinding for koins to spend on the krypt or playing on harder difficulty to unlock something is nothing new to Mortal Kombat or gaming in general.

yomfweeee2561d ago

Please clarify what you can buy in this version that you got for free 15 years ago without any effort?

chiefJohn1172561d ago (Edited 2561d ago )

Me and Yom still waiting.....just gonna down vote and move on? Thought so

Eh . I am mostly done with fighters . Most haven’t changed much and the cost for the full game is stupid for a game with little content besides some characters and backdrops

sprinterboy2561d ago

Would it just be easier to release these fighting games f2p and have about $60 worth of extra characters, fatalities, weapon skins etc

Smokehouse2561d ago

Stop whining. Half of you bitching about MTs don’t even know what you’re talking about.

Steveoreno12561d ago

I've seen you in every article about this defending them. From here on out I hereby don you smokehouse "The Champion Defender of all Microtransactions". You and jinger should have a play date.

Smokehouse2561d ago (Edited 2561d ago )

I’m defending the game with barely any micro transactions from idiots who don’t know what they are talking about. Every article parrots that same ignorant trash.

You morons aren’t even complaining about the right thing. It’s not MTs it’s the tower difficulties and cheese that are the problem. MTs have nothing to do with it yet article after article come saying the same thing. And dumb comment after dumb comment like yours believing what they say.

Steveoreno12561d ago

No $60 game should have free phone games mechanics. Period. They are making things harder to do and longer to unlock. Do you really think it would take this long to unlock stuff if they didn't think you would pay to speed up the process.

Smokehouse2561d ago

It came out Tuesday moron. You might play fighting games for a week, most people that buy them play it for years. And there’s no way to “buy” the shit with micro transactions. You know, the very thing you idiots are bitching about.
