In November of 2013, Microsoft faced blowback after revealing that their new console would require an “always online” internet connection and that game ownership would be tied to players’ Xbox Live accounts, making it harder to trade in games and even lend them to friends. Sony capitalized on that blowback with their infamous E3 dunk. Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

But... its NOT an all digital future (not yet). This is just an all digital option, not an absolute. The next round of home consoles will support physical media as well as digital (like we have currently). If there will be another digital only unit then it too will simply be an option for that type of consumer.
Phones are all digital, tablets are all digital, almost all laptops are all digital. Not sure why you insist consoles remain in the stone ages.
if that ever happens, I don't see it happening for a very long time.
