I definitely understand video game collectors and wanting to own many games, but this is one case where the game on that disc is NOTHING of the game that is played or even the same game that is popular. People are buying it basically for the box itself. The Battle Royal mode didn't come out till way later.

I was just going to say. everyone plays fortnite for battle royale. you don't even get it in that actual copy. makes no sense to me.

Make me wonder if the price for a physical copy will drop in price if battle royal gets stale or if Fornite 2 were to ever come out.

so let me get this straight. these so called collectors buy brand new games and don't even open them? like $3000 for that chrono trigger game? that has to be the dumbest shit ive ever seen.

I have a few so I can resell them for 3 times of the amount I paid for them at launch.

Did you not know what collecting was before today?

I have quite a few unopened games in my collection. I wouldn't buy a $3000 game unless I knew I could resell it for just as much though. These rating things you see for these "collector" editions are a complete farce, and only used to drive up the costs of items well beyond their market value. They give people confidence, and makes them think they're getting more than they could for much less if they just were careful, patient, and looked around. There are very few games which are worth more than a few hundred dollars, and they're usually only extremely rare copies of the game.

The collectors market itself is kind of jacked up now. Too many people who don't understand the value of games paying inflated prices, and sellers who want to sell for prices which will be hard to resell at. I know something is only worth what you're willing to pay for it, but I think a lot of collectors nowadays just lack some common sense.
