Only time will tell if this unique concept will win adepts or the more traditional ways of wagering war shall prevail, but at least for the moment this game is an enthralling experiment that definitely offers a unique experience that shouldn't be passed.

If you’re a fan of the MMORPG genre but also someone who appreciates a fun RTS, WorldShift by Crytek Black Sea may be exactly what you’ve been looking for. Set in the very distant future, the game is a fight for survival after an apocalyptic event nearly wiped civilization off of the face of the Earth. Mixing elements from both the RTS and MMORPG genres, WorldShift is a very interesting approach to two genres which have been well defined in the past by many games, but rarely ever mixed.

PopMatters:
"I really do like Worldshift, but it is a like tempered by annoyance and incredulity. With a multiplayer set up like this, it's amazing that the team didn't create more tactile, tactical combat. Worldshift plays like a game transported into the 2000s from the 1990s. Every chance it gets, it reminds you of how games used to be and how they shouldn't be. With a patch or two, the stability issues could be fixed, but I wonder if the rest of the game can be given the solidity it demands."

Published by Got Game Entertainment LLC in agreement with Playlogic Entertainment, Inc. and developed by Black Sea Studios, WorldShift takes you one thousand years into the future and into a colonized solar system and post-apocalyptic Earth where survivors have splintered into three factions. In co-operative player-versus-environment gameplay similar to MMOGs, daily battles and missions for precious resources as Humans, Tribes, or Alien Cult will require a shift in thinking and a shift in strategy to prevail in this world shift!"
