The game that emerged from a six-and-a-half-year development cycle was the result of a number of difficult, complicated factors, ones that won’t be quite as easy to fix as Anthem’s loot drop rates or loading screens. When the Anthem team started development back in 2012, they hoped to make the Bob Dylan of video games, one that would be referenced and remembered for generations. They might have accomplished that. Just not in quite the way they hoped.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."

Today, Koei Tecmo announced its financial results for the full fiscal year 2025, related to the period between April 2025 and March 2026.
So Anthem is basically the game it is because that’s what Patrick Soderlund thought was cool. Fuck these higher ups who know Jack Shit about making a good interesting game. I can’t stand how much power we give people that don’t actually care about this medium.
Step 1
Ea was even remotely involved
Well written. Very sad that Corey Gaspur died mid way through this. If he had not, we would have had an entirely different and much better game. For some unknown reason, his death also led to a lot of turnover and Bioware ignoring what other industry leaders (Division and Destiny) where doing right.
Still, releasing the game with a bug that caused my PS4 to STOP WORKING until I re-initialized it was unforgivable.
Bugs aside, the lackluster game play and garbage loot mechanics made sure I would not enjoy it.
-Why don't bosses drop the best loot?
-Why does gear I get in the beginning of the game beat out some of the later gear? Worst scaling I have ever seen. Seriously, I almost did more damage using a single gun and nothing else then when I was decked out in some of my better loot. This was stupid and destroyed what little sense of progression the game had.
-Where is a waypoint system? How about at least some friggin map indicators? Such poor design.
So much wasted potential. So many bugs.
I switched to The Division 2 and haven't looked back. It is almost everything I wanted Anthem to be.
Having said all this, I will give the game a try again in a year or two. Hopefully it does what No Man's Sky did and turn everything around. Until that time, the refund I got for it got me 6 new games (on the latest sale) that I am thoroughly enjoying.
EA's Anthem*
Fixed.
I thought this game would be a mediocre 6/10 like Destiny but its turned out to be much worse.
