Devil May Cry 5 or Sekiro? We can help you decide

Sometimes you can’t afford two games at a time. May Cry 5 or Sekiro? There, lies the question.

JimBeans2620d ago

Easily DMC 5. Sekiro has clunky combat and even as a big Dark Souls fan I think it's just okay.

nucky642620d ago

sekiro is only "clunky" if you aren't very good.

MadMax2619d ago

Sekiro is clunky because of the game developers. They are known for this. Stop making excuses.

nucky642619d ago (Edited 2619d ago )

madmax, i can't say it's clunky if i'm not struggling with the fighting - and i'm not. every once in while i get a wonky camara angle - but i just move and get the camara straightened out - but this has been a minor issue.

edit - "they are known for this" - yea, sure they are - that's why nobody likes souls/bloodborne games. S

jagermaster6192620d ago

Just okay... lol I personally like it better, yes I know its just my opinion. I've had more fun with this than any dark souls!

Greg28012619d ago

Lol clunky. Either you never played it or you never made it past the tutorial area xD

BlkMonk-EKing2619d ago

Bro this guy has never played it ever. The combat in Seikro. The combat in this game is far faster then even blood borne which I loved

MadMax2619d ago (Edited 2619d ago )

I agree with you. Without a doubt DMC is easily the better of the two by a long shot! Sekiro seems very overrated to me. I did not like it. Extremely bad animation! Very, very clunky! Even your movement is shit. How can reviewers be letting this mess of a game get away with that? Combat is kind of dull and not much variety at all. Graphics look like ps3! Environments are very repetitive. Same recycled enemies throughout the game. You die, youre fucked! Chained ogre even grabs you, lol good luck! Hes not even the first boss! I wont even get into that idiot on a horse. Any experience points you earned are lost. Youll be spending hours on end just trying to advance from the first level. By then its not even worth the trouble. Boss fights arent even fun. Its more work and stress than anything. Combat flat out sucks! Seriously, save your money.

Sekiro is kinda overrated trash if you ask me. Shouldnt be considered a game. Many others are complaining about the game as well. Not just casuals, hardcore gamers are too. Read customer reviews and not all these biased hipster reviews. Dont fall for the hype, its not as good at all as people are saying! A complete waste of $60. Honestly, sekiro is a 4/10 game. Its not what a game is supposed to be about, which is fun. Its a chore with way too much hype!

Vegamyster2619d ago

If it takes you "hours on end" to get past the first level then you're probably just not good at the game lol, the problem is some people are trying to play it like a Souls game which punishes you.

Hungryalpaca2619d ago

Sounds like you just didn’t pay any attention to how to play the game.

Last_Boss2619d ago

SEEMS!!! SHOULDN'T BE CALLED A GAME!!! Who TF says dumb shit like this!!

starchild2619d ago

A few of the things you said are a matter of opinion, the rest is complete BS. And anybody that has played the game knows it's BS. I would bet you either haven't played it or haven't even made it out of the first area.

User reviews are completely and utterly worthless. Every damn fanboy with their biases and axes to grind flocks to them and tries to push their agenda. And the few sincere, level headed reviews get buried in an avalanche of 0s and 10s. It's a big joke.

UltraNova2619d ago

Honestly, the term Git Gud was made for people like you.

Git gud or git out.

thatguyhayat2619d ago

Clunky combat? You didn't *Git gud* did you. But jokes aside. I love how the steels clash soo cool. But honestly why not get both.

Gaming4Life19812619d ago

Dmc5 easily but I like sekiro as well and I hate dark souls.

UltraNova2619d ago (Edited 2619d ago )

DMC 5 is like a really good burger. Sekiro is like a top notch steak, yeah cost of entry is quite steep(difficulty) but once you can "afford" it, its clear that its the best damn meal you can have.

As for answering the article's question - playing Sekiro for a couple hundred hrs first then I'll take a break to play DMC 5.

MadMax2619d ago (Edited 2619d ago )

Git gud? I see, you think you are being cool using hipster terms. Lol, got it now. Thx for verifying you are a hipster, so i can move on with my life now! How can you git good as you put it, when you already are good? You need to learn how to spell first. Lol, now as far as you kids and your whole get good bs goes. I have been playing games since the nes days. I have beaten some of the toughest old school games that would leave some of you confused. Games that you hipsters probably couldnt last 5 min in, so try again.

Theres a difference between difficult fun and just bad programming trash. Get it right next time.

LordoftheCritics2619d ago (Edited 2619d ago )

I enjoyed DMC 5 a lot more. I do agree with the controls and fluidity.

DMC 5 is a cinematic journey. Sekiro could easily be. mobile game.

Sekiro still suffers from the souls clunky camera syndrome.

MadMax2619d ago

Finally, someone with some sense around here. I think theres just too many know it all hipsters in here commenting. Theyre entertaining.

I dont see why they seem to think and enjoy a game with very clunky combat and terrible animation. Ive played bloodborne, nioh and dark souls, but Sekiro is just worse in many other ways.

you cant go wrong with either imo, both have unique and amazing combat systems and boss fignts but Sekiros level design is much better than DMC5.

of course Dante alone could make dmc5 better for many, not to mention its overall lighter tone and adjustable difficulty

remixx1162620d ago

Why must we choose between the increasingly rare good single player games when there is an ever increasing abundance of subscription models and gaas games regularly asking for our dough.

King_Noctis2620d ago

DMC is for those looking for a more relaxed action game, which I personally enjoy more than a harder one like Seikiro.

don't pay for this streaming platform, just do some research and find free streaming elsewhere. they took money after I canceled

anast281d ago

This looks cool, but there's something off about the art. It looks like they added sketchy lines to make it look gritty instead of making it look gritty.

DMC2 ranked 2nd and also DmC ranked 3rd?
What a load of BS!

ABizzel1408d ago

IMO

6. DMC2 6/10
5. DMC4 7.5/10 (Hated Nero, repeat bosses, Dante was the saving grace but only about half the game)
4. DmC 7.5/10 (solid overall, some great ideas, meh story, dialog sucked, and the director almost killed DMC)
3. DMC1 8.5/10 (all around solid)
2. DMC5 9/10 (carried by Dante & Nero gameplay, I didn’t like V’s, Nero’s better but still not a fan)
1. DCM3 10/10 (chef’s kiss)

Vits408d ago

Well, it worked.

This nothingburger of a opinion article got a lot of views and comments.

Pyrofire95408d ago

WHAT!? who in their right mind would put 2 near the top (not at the bottom) unironically?
I think all of them are worth playing in their own right honestly, except 2 unless you REALLY want to experience the whole series.

FinalFantasyFanatic407d ago (Edited 407d ago )

I honestly don't know what the author was smoking, personally I'd rank DMC3 as no.1, maybe DMC5 as second, DMC1 as third, DMC4 as fourth, and DMC as fifth and DMC2 last. such a bizarre list, mybe the author just has strange taste.

DMC2 anywhere but last is crazy. Awful list overall.

BlaqMagiq1408d ago

"Devil May Cry 2 isn’t trash. It’s just misunderstood by a fanbase that doesn’t like change."

This and putting DMC 2 number 2 is all I need to ignore this ranking. DMC2 is absolute trash and it's clear this person doesn't understand exactly why.

Flenter408d ago

For me: 3,1,5,4,2 and then .....Dmc

fsfsxii408d ago (Edited 408d ago )

Why is DmC last? Genuinely curious.

lellkay408d ago (Edited 408d ago )

Dmc is far superior to DMC2 come on

generic-user-name408d ago

"almost 20-year-old series"

It's 24 years old.
