Don’t throw away your older Xbox console…

With the cost of brand new, current, systems already being low – this can have a drastic effect on the value of second-hand systems. However, an older Xbox One – or even a 360 – has one significant use that probably justifies keeping it over taking bottom dollar on the second-hand market.

Sure, but i mean or you can sell it and use the money to just get a streaming device like a Roku, Firestick, etc that will actually be supported for years to come rather than a system which can be dropped from your streaming services at any moment, not to mention that's a lot of electricity to use just to watch netflix.

RizBiz2619d ago

Do you even need those sticks anymore? Aren't there apps for all of those streaming services on Android TV already?

Godmars2902619d ago

No. Like everything nowadays, some apps are exclusive to certain streaming devices.

TacoTaco2619d ago

Android TV is on only like one or two manufacturers. LG has webOS, TCL uses Roku, Samsung uses their Tizen.

My 4K Samsung's smart features are so slow I'd use anything over them.

I feel like this should be common sense...

Godmars2902619d ago

Not when MS had such apps behind the XBL paywall.

JokerBoy4222613d ago

True but they dont anymore. They stopped doing that before the X Box One released.

Godmars2902612d ago

Yes, because their DRM plans blew up in their face. If not or that, when they were only planning though dependence, the XB1 likely would have been nothing but a brick without a subscription.

jznrpg2619d ago

Too late. Oh I am not buying this streaming thing though

TheHateTheyGive2619d ago

Why would anyone throw away any console besides oya? Xboxone is a good 3rd party machine.

PowerOfTheCloud2619d ago (Edited 2619d ago )

But you can have those 3rd party games + loads of top tier high quality exclusives on the competition's console. Yeah, throwing away x1 might be too much, but gifting it to someone who can't afford to buy a playstation and might be grateful to get to play at least some worthwile modern games among the sad semi exclusive lineup and the boatloads of soulless cashgrab 3rd party mt games, might be the right thing to do.

MadLad2619d ago (Edited 2619d ago )

Could you be more biased? Really? Could you? Because this entire comment screamed cringy try-hard.

PowerOfTheCloud2619d ago (Edited 2619d ago )

With all the underwhelming 3rd party games coming out, how can it be an good that x1 is mainly a 3rd party machine??? To play those lacking games everybody is ranting about? At the moment there is no justification for buying an xbox 1 other than being an diehard xbox fan, sorry.

KwietStorm_BLM2619d ago

Underwhelming 3rd party games coming out? If you prefer a certain platform, go head and do that. But don't be a completely unabashed shill for them. The industry is *nothing* without 3rd party games, at any given time, in any given generation. And there has been no shortage of amazing 3rd party releases from quarter to quarter throughout. That doesn't even have anything to do with Xbox vs PlayStation. It's just games, what it's supposed to be about in the first place.

annoyedgamer2619d ago

I really dislike Naughty Dog, so I wont miss much.

"At the moment there is no justification for buying an xbox 1 other than being an diehard xbox fan, sorry."

Not quite true. I own all consoles and Xbox has its benefits. Play anywhere, gamepass, backwards compatibility are a few reasons. It is also a great priced 4k Blu ray player. Maybe buy an X to get the best current experience with 3rd party console games. Or maybe later in the year people might want to play Ori 2 or gears 5. There are always reasons, it's up to each individual to decide if these reasons are suitable for them.

It really isn’t unles you are talking about the x version.
The base model and the s take a hit on performance with a lot of third party games.
So much so that comparison sites like eurogamer will not even use the base console and skims past any real info from the s version.

DillyDilly2619d ago (Edited 2619d ago )

Why sell it ? Probably because with Sony now on the Backwards Compatibility Hype Train & all of the same popular apps will be on the one Systems why keep it ?

Blues Journey is the game I'd like to see.

Popsicle28d ago

Pre-ordered mine a few days ago. Love this concept and hope there are more games announced. I can’t justify paying the prices for games that collectors are asking for. It’s the primary reason I own almost every console except the Neo Geo.

Agent7528d ago

I've pre ordered one here in the UK, no games though, as I'll move it on for a higher price. The white model looks awesome, but as expected, the price is too high. We'll probably see more of those all in one cartridges from China containing every AES game. In the UK, AES+ game at £70 ($95) is better than eye watering prices for the originals, but these games are so old and I can honestly say SNK didn't release many classics. The Metal Slug series is the only series I rate, there were just too many Street Fighter clones and not enough scrolling fighting games. Overall, the Neo Geo was poor for all genres apart from one on one fighters. Videos on YouTube asking for games from that console generation to be ported to the AES+, but who'd want to pay £70 for Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 2? There's a lot of SNK collections out there, the best being Metal Slug Anthology on the PlayStation 2. The Street Fighter Anniversary Collection on the Switch contains 12 games for around £30, instead of £840 if released on the AES+. For collectors, the AES+ is the best news since sliced bread. Are there enough SNK fans out there? Nowhere near. Those £70 cartridges will soon start creeping up in price and it'll be a re-run of the original console.

I always wanted one in the 90's but couldn't afford it. Now i can but i think if i get one it will be collecting dust fast. It's a nostalgia thing i guess.
